Dealing With What Life Throws At You

That Awkward Moment

College is the one time where you can become your own person and try new things. With this comes a multitude of things that you end up doing that later on you wish you didn't. Here are the stages of getting past that dreaded awkward moment...

1. Waking Up

When you initially wake up you will have a moment of pure bliss where you do not remember anything. However, everything will come flooding back to you at once. I encourage you not to panic just thank your lucky stars that you made it home and are sleeping in your own bed.

2. Learning What You did

Nothing is worse than checking your phone and seeing that embarrassing text you sent and those Snapchat videos you posted. At this point there is no going back so you might as well read those texts over again and watch those Snapchats to try and piece together the night before you delete them.

3. Call Your Friend

Everyone has that one friend (or friends) who you can talk to about anything. Nothing makes you feel better than having a friend who makes you feel good about whatever stupid thing you did. Text someone, cry, fall down, you name it and the next day your best friend will tell you to just "own that S**t!!!".

4. Own that S**t

Whatever stupid thing you end up doing just own it. Nothing is better than being yourself and if you end up making a fool out of yourself at least you can say you did it and you will always have the memory of it.

5. Laugh

Laughter is the best cure for anything. I have learned that you should never take yourself too serious. At the end of the day just laugh it off, it happened and you can't change it. As long as you can find the humor in every awkward situation that you put yourself through then it can't affect your life too bad.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
