Dead Week, According To Sitcoms

How I Met Your Mother, The Office, and Parks & Rec really understand the struggle.

Ah, dead week. The week when a semester of procrastination on major papers, group presentations and "creative" projects catches up to you and hits you like a train, which you somehow survive. Still alive and barely breathing, and stuck to the front of a locomotive like in a Looney Toons cartoon, you go off a cliff when the train does because the bridge is conveniently broken. You're then crushed under the massive weight of a train, but you're still alive so you still have to give a presentation on transcendentalism. Essentially, dead week is the worst. Could anything possibly bring any joy to this train wreck? Of course, every college student's favorite sitcoms: "The Office," "How I Met Your Mother," and "Parks & Rec."

1. How it feels when dead week first hits

2. You realize the extent of your procrastination from the past semester. . .

3. And that you only have a few days to get a semester's worth of work done.

4. So you try to hide from your responsibilities.

5. You just need to fill space in the ten-page paper that's due in the morning.

6. And you stay up until 3 am writing said paper.

7. Then you read the incoherent, caffeine-induced thoughts you wrote in your paper the following morning.

8. Your mantra for the week:

9. Nobody in your group project, which accounts for 20% of your grade, is responding to your emails or messages. . .

10. Then they show up the day of the presentation to get credit.

11. Eventually it reaches the point of stress eating, and you just don't care any more.

12. When your friend brags about not having a lot to do during dead week in the midst of your drowning:

13. When you successfully finish an assignment. . .

14. So you think you have your life together.

15. By this point, the week is in full swing and the stress is getting to you.

16. You're just trying to survive but can't even handle the simplest tasks.

17. Basically, this is how the entire week feels:

18. But then you turn in your last major assignment, officially surviving dead week.

19. Then you remember you have finals next week.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
