Every year, great blockbuster hits are released. 2016 seems like the year that superhero and supervillain movies are hitting theaters. These action packed films are bound to keep you on the edge of seat. With great plot twists, fight scenes from good and evil, it only appears that superhero movies from Marvel and DC Comics are going to be fantastic. Here are six superhero/supervillain movies to be released in 2016 that fans have been waiting for.
1. "X-Men Apocalypse"
X-Men is a huge superhero group in the Marvel universe. With the help of a young X-men team, Professor X and Raven must defeat a new immortal mutant. It stars Jennifer Lawerence, Oscar Isaac, and Olivia Munn, and Channing Tatum will have an appearance as the superhero Gambit. The release date is May 27, 2016.
2. "Batman vs. Superman Dawn of Justice"
This DC superhero flick is coming to the box office March 25, 2016. It stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, and Amy Adams. Batman and Superman are at war with each other, and a new threat appears. Who will win?
3. "Suicide Squad"
This supervillain movie from DC Comics is going to bring a new perspective to some of our favorite villains such as the Joker. The villains accept a secret mission from the government that more than likely will result in their deaths. It stars Jared Leto, Will Smith, Cara Delevingne, and the appearance of Batman portrayed by Ben Affleck. This film comes out August 5, 2016.
4. "Captain America: Civil War"
Marvel brings together two avengers that must face each other and could lead the other avengers in turmoil. This third film in the series stars Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, and Sebastian Stan. The war between Tony Stark and Steve Rogers hits theaters May 6, 2016.
5. "Dr. Strange"
One of Marvel's newest superheroes, Dr. Strange, hits the box office Nov. 4, 2016. A sorcerer comes to help an arrogant but brilliant surgeon after his career is destroyed. This sorcerer helps the surgeon defeat evil. This new Marvel film stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Rachel McAdams, and Tilda Swinton.
6. Deadpool
Deadpool is one of Marvel's anti-heroes. When former special forces operative, Wade Winston Wilson, becomes a subject of a rogue experiment, he gains accelerated healing powers. This film stars Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccain, and Gina Carano.
These films seem amazing. DC Comics and Marvel really did a great job coming up with these films and introducing the superhero universe to some new heroes. 2016 is going to be the year of the superhero/supervillain/anti-hero takeover. Hope you're ready for the ride.
