A Day In The Life: Shopping Overload

An eventful day consisting of only shopping with Rocio

My friend Rocio and went shopping for back to college. We both felt like we needed a reward for having our whole summer ruined by a stupid summer course. We wanted to start the new school year in style. Not really... we just wanted to go shopping for once. Here is what I spent my Sunday doing.

Morning

My day started around 8:30 AM. I got ready and watched the church channel on my laptop. I felt bad because I usually go to church but since I'm dorming, I can't go as much anymore. I was so mad because I didn't get to eat breakfast either. I was rushed because Rocio texted me and said "Let's BOUNCE!" So I ordered the Uber and waited for Rocio outside.

Afternoon

When we arrived to Glendale Galleria, everything was closed. I was so mad. We had to wait outside in the heat for 30 minutes, but it was our fault because we should have checked online. The mall opened at approximately 11:00 AM. The first place we went to was Hot Topic. We wanted to pick up some T-shirts. I bought a Rolling Stones shirt and a tattoo choker. After that, our friend Kaitlyn joined us and we all went to Victorias Secret to go get some girly things aka underwear and body spray. The mall got packed so quick people were pushing and shoving with no apologies. I think it's just a thing for people in Los Angeles to just be rude and snobby all the time.

Afternoon (cont.)

So we head to Forever 21 and by this time I am shaking. I'm so hungry but I didn't want to eat at a restaurant. I wanted to eat my food at home. I was surprised I didn't have a headache. So 2:00 comes around and I kid you not we were in Forever 21 for about 2 hours because Rocio couldn't decide what she wanted. We were balling on a budget.

We finally finished our eventful day off with Lush cosmetics. I got a face wash and I'm about to go to class tomorrow feeling fresh and confident as heck! I took an Uber home and he played some cool tunes. After today, I won't be spending money for a while. I spent almost $300, but I spent wisely and I'm happy with my choices. I got home and did laundry because I wanted to plan my outfit early for once. My roommates and I will probably end up watching the VMA's with a bowl of popcorn.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
