Dating is complicated, sometimes frustrating, but also the most surreal experience we will ever feel. When every bone in your body is telling you he's "the one," it is usually over these types of guys.
The Stefan Salvatore
Your first love; you experience everything together for the first time... the first time you say "I love you,” the first time you sleep together, the first time you meet the parents and the first time you experience sharing every detail to each other. This guy is always there for you, whether he is cooking you dinner or protecting you from your egomaniac doppelgänger (Vampire Diaries reference). He is sweet, caring, all your friends love him and he simply adores you.
So why might your relationship ever come to an end? Since he is your first love you will probably be graduating high school or college. Being so young, you will experience change physically and mentally. Your personalities will grow and so will your distance (different universities or hometowns), which will lead to wanting different things. You will always remember the love and experience you had with this person. It was your first time being in love: unforgettable. Hopefully you will end your relationship on healthy terms and keep in touch.
The Jason
"Laguna Beach's" favorite bad boy and Lauren Conrad's worst mistake, in my opinion. This type of guy makes you question everything…why is my friend with this douche? Why do I like him? And the most frequent WTF was I thinking?
This type of guy typically comes after your first love. Since you have experienced that perfect, sweet, kind love you now yearn for an experience completely different. You want to experience a challenge; someone to fix, someone to have you on your toes and checking Facebook every five minutes to see if he is online and just deliberately ignoring your texts.
Usually this kind of relationship does not end well...at all. You will question your sanity of how you were ever attracted to this type of person but you will gain some positives out of it. You will have your fun, learn how to not ever put up with someone like this again, and gain the ability to tell if a guy is worthy or not.
The Seth Cohen
Quirky. Funny. Nerdy. That guy that always makes you laugh but you don’t really want to admit you are into him since he isn’t your usual type. When you finally get over that superficial thought you fall instantly in love. This guy always brightens your day. If you're lucky like Summer Roberts, he has been obsessed with you since 1st grade and named his boat after you. He is reliable, has an awesome family and is always down for anything. Even though he isn’t the toughest guy, he will try to be and don’t forget he has his brain, which is better (sorry Ryan).
This relationship can go either way: marriage or maybe you will get sick of the dry humor. Either way this guy will teach you to let loose, and to always use laughter to brighten up your life.
The Damon Salvatore
Move over Stefan, like Elena we will find ourselves extremely attracted to the bad boy Damon even if we are trying to avoid it. Although both “bad boys,” the difference between The Jason and The Damon is that Damon has purpose. Like he said in "Vampire Diaries," “If you are going to be bad, be bad with purpose. Otherwise you’re not worth forgiving.” And it is 100 percent true. Behind every borderline evil thing Damon does has a purpose…the purpose of protecting his true love Elena. If that’s not enough, lets not forget his heart wrenching background…the reasoning behind his tough exterior is from his first heart break and feeling second best compared to his brother, Stefan.
This guy will make you feel things like never before, he will challenge you, and it will be one of the best growing experiences. He will make you see things in a different light, as you will for him. If the relationship lasts, great... if not you learned to be adventurous and to venture out of your comfort zone to find something amazing.
The Husband
In my opinion, your husband will be all four of these types of guys combined. He will make you feel like it's your first love (the Stefan) because you haven’t felt this strongly about someone before so it seems like the first time you are experiencing the stages of love. He will even have "The Jason" in him but only the good parts…the feeling of keeping you on your toes in a good way. He will always have the ability of making you laugh and adding a positive light into your life (The Seth Cohen). Lastly, he will challenge you to do things you have never thought of before (The Damon).
So even though dating can sometimes seem like a waste of time, it isn’t. Remember from each experience comes a lesson.
