The Dark Lands

In darkness, there is light.

The Dark Lands

I saw an ever dark land, inhabited by great beings who had fell unto darkness. I had wondered how I had arrived here, not quite sure of that which had come to pass. Merely a bystander to circumstance and false interpretations, I was nothing. Nothing but a void of meaningless existence, one that refused hope. The only hopes I held were that of “I hope that this hope is a lie.”

All our kin who have come and gone due to unfortunate circumstance, misunderstandings, and greed, I felt them all before me. We cannot know where we are going, but we’ve so far. At some point in time, I too will say farewell to this world. All of my memories of the times I had laughed, the times I had cried, and the times had been so happy, they will all be gone.

In order to ascend one must first descend. All these beings I felt, and all their darkness, you wonder, where they always this way? Did they once used to be wonderful, excellent beings? Did they fall into delusions which only further corrupted into darkness? Even more, are they weak for falling, of weak mind or will?

Darkness is a beautiful thing, because without it, there would be no light. There are times when we must embrace our darkness, let it consume us, but in honor of the great ones who have come before, let it go. Do not become the darkness that you hold onto, let it go after you have allowed it to show you what you must see. This is the greatest challenge, because if you are alone and you fall, coming back is indeed difficult.

Should you fall though, you will not backslide, because it is an understanding that has been realized. It might be harder and harder each time just to come back, but you have to. To honor those of which have walked this path before, for they are still with you. When the odds seem impossible, you can fall, or you can rise.

The rise and the fall, they’re one in the same. To fall is to have risen but not have the strength to carry on. To rise is to fall in that you will only understand the greater by understanding all things that come before it. It is a matter of choice how you view the rise or the fall.

A matter of choice to stand or to not stand, it might not be easy, it might be impossible, but if you allow others to help you, and choose to rise, then rise you shall. But if you allow yourself to fall and curse the circumstances in which things occurred, if not actively trying to end these causes, then you will be stuck in delusion.

You will be grasping onto fragments of a reality that never existed. A reality that is so far from the truth. The reality is that we must stand together helping each other as much as we can, this how we will change the world.-

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
