Get ready to dial.

If you're reading this, I dare you to pick up your phone and call someone you love. It doesn't have to be the longest conversation in the world, it can even be a minute long, but do it.

I was inspired this past weekend when I called my grandparents after, admittedly, quite a while. As soon as my grandpa picked up, he was absolutely ecstatic. We didn't talk long, and over subjects an outsider would call trivial but by the end, he was so happy, he started crying. I felt both comforted and guilty, because my grandpa was so incredibly thrilled to talk to me that it made both his and my day, but then I realized I shouldn't have waited for weeks to pass before I called him.

So, I want you to pick up the phone RIGHT NOW and call someone to just have a conversation with. It can be anyone!

A Family Member

As college students, our lives are completely hectic and yeah, you're rolling your eyes staring at the missed call from your mom but try calling her or your dad every once in a while - it'll make their day. They just miss you, after all.

A Friend

This gif is hilarious to me because we have come so far in terms of three-way calls, even from the That's So Raven days! Anyway, even if it's just a five-minute call, talk to your friends from high school every so often - they'll definitely appreciate it because they're probably just as homesick as you are.

A Girlfriend/Boyfriend

Just a random call can make your significant other's day, so why aren't you dialing?

A Crush

Whether if it's to confess your love or just to simply talk about that recent episode of The Flash that was on last night, talking to that one special person is definitely the best.

Basically, a Loved One

Don't chicken out like Dean here!!! Remember, you were dared.

Don't let an opportunity to tell someone that you love them slip away, because you might run out of chances to do even that.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
