Today may be the greatest day of your life. It may be the worst. However, in either case, the day will pass and another day will come. I want you to know that no matter how this day turns out, you have got the strength to get through it. You are more than you give yourself credit for.
You are stronger than you realize. You were given challenges because you can accomplish them. It may not be the accomplishment you assume, though. Accomplishments do not always mean success. Sometimes accomplishments mean failure. You fail to succeed. You learn from your failure and grow from it. This is an accomplishment. You are a product of the lessons you have learned.
You are not your failures though. You are more than the mistakes you have made. Your mistakes do not define you as a person. Your past does not determine your future. Everyday is a new day to change, do not let anyone else tell you otherwise.
You are not the opinion of someone who does not know you. You are more than that. You are an individual with a life personalized to fit you. You are your interests, your passions, and your character. You are not just a surface level understanding in the world. You are a person who deserves a deeper level of understanding that people do not just get to know from one glance.
Do not drown yourself in the troubles of others. It is easy to get caught up in the struggles of other people. While it is important to be there for each other, do not put yourself last in any scenario. Your stability comes first. Others will understand. You need to be sure you are there for yourself before you are there for others.
Take today only one step at a time. It may be the worst or the best day, but as each moment passes, the potential for this to change in an instant is inevitable. Do not take the good for granted. Do not think the bad is here to stay.
Do not feel ashamed for taking breaks. Too often we are caught up in the everyday events of life. We are going 100mph when really our safety maxes out at about 60mph. Put the brakes on and stop. Take those moments to do nothing. Maybe “nothing” wasn’t on your to-do list, but doctor’s order came in and it is now.
Smile because it is the best day you’ve encountered in life. Smile because it’s the worst day, but you know it will all pass. Smile because you have been given a beautiful life. Smiling does not mean everything is okay, but it lets others know everything will be all right.
