Working in customer service always serves as a great first job for us young adults. Like most things, working in customer service is way more difficult than it needs to be. Whether you're working in food or retail, we can all be in agreement that people are the absolute worst. Making minimum wage and dealing with crazy customers just isn't worth it; and if you're unlucky, your co-workers can suck, too. How can the people that come to be your second family double as the people you can't stand? You're in it together, though. Customer service is a real struggle, and who better to demonstrate that than the beautiful cast of "Grey's Anatomy."
Working your first shift.
That horrifying feeling of not knowing where anything goes. How do I even work a cash register? "Oh God, Oh God this is so bad."
Getting that first paycheck.
It's at that exact moment that you realize you're "grown up" with "responsibilities."
Going on your lunch/dinner break.
Being promised that ever-so-wonderful FULL, half-hour break, but knowing damn well you'll get called back out half way through your break.
Being told you have "resting bitch face."
Did it ever occur to you that I hate it here? I hate you. I've been here for hours with no end in sight. Of course I have RBF.
Working a double.
Nobody, not even you, knows why you decided to work a double. It's your funeral, my friend.
Halfway through your shift.
Again, totally your fault. However, it's still awful.
At the end of a long shift.
Whether you just finished a four or 16-hour shift, working takes way too much out of you.
Being asked to come in early/stay late.
There is no way in hell.
Hearing that someone called out.
Thanks for leaving me here to DIE.
When it's starting to get busy.
Oh God, no, please someone help me, or kill me.
After the big rush is over.
"Why is it so messy?" ... did you see how many people I just had to deal with?
Guests coming to you with complaints.
I don't even want to hear you out. I am the last person you want to go to with any issue or complaint you have.
Guests that decide to get nasty with you.
It is taking everything in me not to destroy you right now.
When your manager shuts down a rude guest.
We're in this together.
Seeing a former co-worker.
They quit and totally left you with new people and idiots. Why?
Hurting yourself at work.
I just burned the skin off my hand, but no, I'm cool, I'll continue working.
Being sent home early.
Thank GOD for slow days.
Watching other people being sent home early.
That should be me.
Being told to be nicer.
I can promise you that after being around these people, I do not have a single nice bone in my body.
