When your fingers and toes feel like ice and your covers just won’t do the trick, grab your favorite mug (or perhaps whichever dish is clean), make yourself a cup of warm, comforting tea, and drink and be warmed.
When the snow is falling and you sit by your window sill, watching the trees dance as they slowly disappear under the white, write of the night and and be warmed.
When you’ve returned from a long day and your soul seeks warmth, grab your most loved blanket, find a place by the fire, read and be warmed with memories of warmer days and kinder walks home.
When you’ve finally found a spot on the bus or train, and you find your eyes dazing out the window, count the cars that pass. As you wave to strangers, you are reminded that we are all trying to get somewhere and be warmed.
When early nights in turn into late nights out with friends, singing out of tune and dancing to the sound of our own laughs, be present to those around you and be warmed.
When the wintry chill seems to take over, allow yourself to be warmed by the simple lights of everyday life, and be warmed.
When the January sun sets and the February moon comes out again, create and be warmed. Write yourself love letters. Draw and paint what you love. Make yourself a playlist of your most cherished and loved songs. Until then, here is mine to you. Listen and be warmed.
