Cults in our own yard

The world "cult" receives many different reactions. Some will associate the word with the most common "Mormonism" or "Amish" some may even hear it and think Satanic. The word cult is a very broad spectrum and it is by far limited to one certain kind of cult.

According to the dictionary the word 'cult' itself refers to a worship or devotion to a person or object. The practice of a religion where the doctrine has been dreamed up so that only people inside of this said cult are in the right and every one else that will not join it are most commonly referred to as "lost".

These days there are so many cult scattered all around us that people don't even realize they are in one. I have mentioned some of the most common but here is one that maybe are not quite as recognized. "The Message" also known as Branhamism.

This is a religious cult were the leader teaches that the one on only way to Heaven or any after life is through first the original leader a so called self proclaimed prophet, then himself and then finally God.

While this cult is very similar other cults it is in a class all it's own when it comes to belief. The doctrine is so confusing but sounds very good. That being said the practice of mind control and manipulation are used at every meeting. Because of this it makes it very hard to break out of a cult like this. Almost impossible. Especially if ones family is very fixed on staying in. They are so set on the doctrine of the prophet William Branham that they don't even realize that ultimately they are treating him and actually replacing him with God.

This is so real and happening so close to our everyday life people don't even know it's there. This sort of organizations continue to grow and will always unless awareness is raised for them and people are taught how to recognize a cult when they see one

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
