Every school has that place where everyone ends up when they are up doing homework. For most schools, it’s the library. At Georgia Tech, we have the Clough Undergraduate Learning Commons, fondly known as the CULC. While some people basically live in the CULC (me), others only use it as a study space when they have a lot to do. So with finals approaching, here’s a rundown of all things CULC.

1. Starbucks:

Caffeine is the only thing that gets you through the night, and that half an hour Starbucks line at midnight is totally worth the break from your studying.

2. Naps:

Two 20 minute naps while it's dark outside counts as sleep for the night, right?

3. Shoes:

They aren’t comfortable. How can you be expected to study or write an essay when you are uncomfortable?

4. Vending Machines:

A quick, easy, and simple way to get food. Food is bae and honestly a necessity when you start your camp out at 7 p.m. and don’t leave until 4 a.m. Also, it's another good excuse to take a break from studying.

5. Food Delivery:

Another quick, easy, and simple way to get food. Except this food is warm. My personal favs include Wing Zone and Domino’s, but honestly, if it delivers and takes dining dollars, I’ll eat it at 2 a.m.

6. Chargers:

When you’re using your computer for eight hours straight, it's going to die. If you’re with a group, this typically leads to outlet wars and lots of tripping over cords.

7. Legendary Snapchat Stories:

Because you have to document all the weird things that you and your friends do at 2 a.m. instead of studying.

8. White Board Doodles:

For when you need a break from a long math problem. These doodles are often ugly pictures you draw of your friends or contain explicit content.

9. Bundling Up:

It gets hella cold when the sun goes down, and that means layers of sweatshirts, fuzzy socks, and tons of blankets to turn to you into a cozy taco before you start on your homework.

10. All-Nighters:

For those nights where there is just too much to do to allow yourself the luxury of sleep. These are all too common in the CULC.

11. Homework (sometimes):

This is what we went to to CULC to do, after all.

12. Bonding:

No one wants to sit and do homework by themselves, so naturally, we invite friends to do it with us. After midnight, in an attempt to continue to avoid doing homework, weird things start happening, and it's these weird things that lead to bonding between you and whoever you forced to join you that night.

13. Fighting over a Break Out Room:

Break out rooms are coveted locations in the CULC. Silent, private, and home to you and your closest friends for however long you manage to reserve one, these rooms become increasingly difficult to obtain as finals approach. Tip for everyone who doesn’t usually live in the CULC: reserve them a day in advance.

14. Boxing in with White Boards:

It's not as glamorous as a break out room, but if you don’t manage to succeed in securing one of those rooms and you get to the CULC early enough, you can tuck yourself in a corner, grab three rolling white boards, and trap yourself in your own makeshift room. Your walls also double as a great way to practice math problems/doodle.

15. Procrastination:

It's the number one thing that occurs in the CULC. We go there to avoid procrastination, but it inevitably follows us. But without procrastination, we would actually get things done, be able to leave at normal hours, and miss out on so many good memories.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
