A girls guide to getting over a hard breakup.

To the boy who still isn’t over me,

I’m sorry. Or am I? I always kind of wished that you would feel this way. Back in those days, when I was head over heels for you, I thought about how often I felt so undervalued with you. Now, my value is much more noticeable that I am nonexistent in your life. Those relationships that make you a stronger, better person are also the ones that damage you the most. So, what do you do to move on with your life after such a hard break up?

1. Cry, Deal, Accept

Yep, you read that correctly. I said cry. To be able to move past something, you have to accept it. In other words, you have to deal with it. Your personality might not be one who cries after something so heart retching, but whether you cry it out or not, you must learn to live in your feelings for the moment.

In order to move past the moment, you must accept the moment happened. Many times, women feel as though if they try to forget all of the pain, it will make it better. Honestly, it does temporary. However, you are not doing yourself justice when you push the pain down and out of sight. Don’t dwell in the pain, rather live in it for an allotted time frame.

2. Move On

This doesn’t mean that you go around sleeping your way through your break up until you feel better. Though, that can be a fun weekend. What I mean by moving on is moving on emotionally. I’m not saying you will be completely over the situation. That takes time. What you can do though, is move away from the ideas and habits of the relationship. Having a healthy recovery in regards to a relationship is key to making it to the other side, which means you are over them.

3. Give Yourself Time To Heal

It’s important to remember that the answer to a failing relationship is not to jump into another one. You have to give your heart time to heal. The healing process is not a quick one, in most cases. Running to the next guy is not a good way to overcome your broken heart. All it does is confuse and misuse your feelings.

4. Work On Yourself

A great time to work on you is after a break up. This gives you time to reflect on the person you have become. Since the relationship was not successful, chances are you are not happy with the person you are. If you don’t like that person, this is the time to change it. No one is holding you back from being who you want to be. If you want to cut your hair, do it. This is the time to be selfish. Go do some things you and only you want to do.

Conclusion

Breakups are hard. To the guy who realized how much harder it is to live without me, I’m sorry. To this day, he is still not over me, but I am over him. I wish someone had helped me get over him in a healthier way. Don’t be like me and cheat yourself. Get over them and get on with your life.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
