When you first meet someone that is attractive a crush may start to form. A crush has different stages.
Infatuation stage: This is when you all you want to do is get to know them and no matter what they do everything is perfect. This is the part of the crush where everything is foggy because you do not want to see their imperfections. All you want to do is see the good attributes they have. This definitely blinds us from the reality that nobody is perfect and that all people have flaws.
You may even begin to imagine what it would be like if you start dating this person. Cue the imaginary Instagram pictures with witty captions that you would post if you and this person actually started dating. If you are someone who is shy, you may admire your crush from afar and not really talk to him much.
Getting-to-know-you stage: This is the stage where you try to talk this person as much as you can. You may even “bump,” into this person more often because you’ve figured out when they grab coffee or that they take a certain route on their way to class. You also start to figure out that they enjoy reading the newspaper in the morning. This is also the stage when you hang out more, whether they be dates or just friendly hangouts. Regardless, you are beginning to actually get to know this person.
Now having a crush on someone can go multiple ways; one is that you get to know your crush and you realize that this person is not who you want in your life. Therefore, you hit the disappointment stage.
Disappointment stage: you feel that you might’ve wasted your time getting to know this person because ultimately you don’t want them in your life because he/she may not be the best person. However, take this as a lesson in the kind of person you don’t want in your life.
Like I said before having a crush on someone could go multiple ways. You could get to know your crush better and your crush may actually like you back. If he/she does like you back then congratulations because that doesn’t always happen. But when it does it is amazing and you hit the dating stage.
Dating stage: you have go on dates and are heading in the direction where you will eventually get into a relationship. Like I said before if this happens, congratulations.
Regardless of what stage you’re in don’t stress anyone. Make sure your happiness comes first.
