The library is not the best environment for all college students to be doing their work, ESPECIALLY at Creighton University when the whole entire study body decides to hit up the library during dead week and finals week.
There are several areas on Creighton's campus that provide different studious atmospheres that appeal to different learning senses.
1. The Jesuit Gardens
The Jesuit Gardens provides a great learning atmosphere for students who like environmental stimulations while they study. It is a quiet place where you have the option to listen to music on headphones or listen to the beautiful sounds of nature.
2. Residence hall's community areas.
If you're the type of student that likes to be surrounded by people while studying, this is the perfect area for you. Plugging in headphones can make the noise drown out while still having the presence of people around you. Also, this is a great study zone because all those around you can keep you accountable for your studying.
3. Mike & Josie Harper Center
Harper is one of the biggest buildings on campus with great hidden study areas. There are classrooms you can use and the hallways are filled with desks and comfy relaxing bean bag chairs. Also, some of the offices (Office of Multicultural Affairs, SCSJ) have study rooms and lobbies for students to utilize.
4. Skutt
Another area for those that like to be surrounded by people, Skutt allows students who need background noise to successfully study. Also, there are many places in Skutt that you can study; the study area in Starbucks provides the coffee shop ambiance and the area at the food court allows you to have food readily available for a great study break.
5. Hammocks
Conveniently placed all around campus, the hammocks are wonderful areas to chill and read that book that you haven't opened all semester. The hammocks are all around campus so you can choose to be reading in heavily populated or secluded areas.
6. KFC Spine
If you like areas where you can take easy study breaks, study here. You can distract yourself by watching basketball and volleyball intramural games. You might even get the motivation to go workout instead of study.
7. Hixson-Lied lounge
For all of those that like the "
The library is a great place for those who like strictly quiet areas to study without distraction (I personally love this), but with the increase of number of students that head to the library in the final two weeks of the semester, it's not a bad idea to have your backup study spots!
