Coronavirus is Making Us Go Crazy

As you are all aware of right now, unless you have been living under a rock, a virus has spread across the world. You hear it every day whether you watch the news or not: it's the coronavirus recently named COVID-19. And let's just say, the responses to this virus are out of this world. COVID-19 has become a pandemic.

For a little background: the COVID-19 is a virus. Viruses are tiny molecular organisms that infect a host to live. COVID-19 best thrives in humid environments, therefore, it is likely for countries at this time of year to host this virus. But how did this even happen? How did a tiny virus that we cannot see with the naked human eye take over the world? How can something so small become a huge threat?

It is still unclear about the true origins of this virus, but doctors are certain that it originated from China. They say that it came from Wuhan, China-more specifically bats. Yes, that's right it came from the consumption bats. The diseases originally detected in December of 2019, and now the world is feeling the effects.

Oh, how we would love to run free and have a normal life, but our lives have taken a different turn this year. The coronavirus is a quickly spreading virus and has the potential to kill you. The easiest way it spreads is through the interaction of humans. Thus, we have been confined to our homes and we are under quarantine. The whole world is practically under lockdown, or so they should be according to several higher-ups. Still, we can't evade the outside world forever, and this is what is making people go crazy.

The one thing you cannot find in stores is toilet paper. Yes, toilet paper. Weird right? But it's not just toilet paper that you cannot find in stores, its tissues, hand sanitizer, rubbing alcohol, Clorox wipes, and many other cleaning items. People are stocking up as if they were going to be contained in their house for months.

The beautiful beaches of Miami are a hot spot for spring break, and it so happens that around this time of year, colleges are having spring break. The world has been cautioned to stay at home, and the drastic measures to keep that in place are getting out of hand. Yes, we should try to limit ourselves from going out, but do we? No, some of us just can't resist and have to get out. This is becoming a real problem. In Miami, teens are getting arrested for being on the beach. Can you imagine being arrested for going to a beach? It's so ridiculous to think anyone could be arrested for going outside in this day and age, but it's happening.

To all the people who are freaking out, calm down. And to all the people who think this is nothing, you might want to reconsider your choices. You shouldn't be stocking up on items from the stores and then staying confined for months, but on the other side of the spectrum, you should not let loose and be out all the time. Be a little aware of your surroundings and be cautious. If we were to follow simple hygiene rules such as washing hands and avoid touching the face, we wouldn't be in such chaos. We would not have to be arrested for simply stepping out of the house. We would not have the crazy reactions we are having right now.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
