Why Your Cousins Are The Best Friends You Will Ever Have

Growing up, me and my cousins were extremely close. I'm talking matching sweatshirts close. I saw them a minimum of once a week, and looking back on the games we played, I wonder how our parents didn't take us to get checked out. They were my first sleepovers, my first playmates, and my first friends.

This week in particular has reminded me of how great it is to be as close to your cousins as I am. From catching up on family gossip to reminiscing on old times, my cousins are the younger siblings I never had. Here are ten reasons why cousins are the only real friends you need:

1. They have seen it all and were probably right there beside you when it happened

2. You have the same amount of competitiveness against them as your siblings, but don't have to go home with them to hear the gloating all night.

3. Their mom is basically your second mom, because you were raised by her too.

4. Between all of you, you can usually get your way.

5. The #tbts are endless.

6. When you're all grown up, you know that they'll be there for all of your important milestones, and you can't wait to be there for theirs.

7. Holidays and family gatherings can always be made interesting with a little mischief.

8. There is always someone to pick on (and it may not always be the youngest).

9. Giving or getting advice is always best from cousins, because not only is it judgment-free, it's unbiased.

10. At the end of the day, they have no choice but to love you, because you're family.

At the end of the day, your cousins will always be your best friends.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
