Courage. What comes to your mind when you hear the word “courage?” Do you picture with your vivid imagination, daring fleets and impossible tasks? Or do you picture yourself skillfully and bravely jumping into a burning building; lunging over fallen objects and dodging angry flames to save someone in their moment of distress? Well, however you picture it, there’s no doubt that your thoughts on the subject are right on. But being courageous is more than heroic deeds; it also goes into your beliefs.
It takes courage to tell the person you have feelings for, exactly how you feel. It takes courage for an individual to take a stand for something different in pursuit of the presidential office. And it takes courage to go against the odds when all of your friends are partaking in something you know is not right.
We are to seek justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God. These are the three components that are needed in order to make a person into a courageous soul. The world isn’t waiting on those individuals who are fragile and weak of heart. No, the world needs those who are not afraid to call sin out by its right name. Where are you men of courage? The world is looking you who are going to stand up for what is right and fight the good fight.
I have a lot of respect for the brave souls who take on difficult jobs in order to keep society organized. Firefighters are among my favorites. Every year, fires take many lives and destroy billions of dollars worth of property. But firefighters are here to protect both people and property. Putting out fires is not as simple as it sounds. It requires organization, teamwork, and of course courage. People who take on risky jobs like firefighting, receive a whole lot of respect from me as a simple citizen. They are warriors on the front lines, standing unafraid. And their selfless acts are to be appreciated by us all.
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” - Joshua 1:9
Hard work and courage go hand-in-hand. In fact, work is an essential part of who we are as human beings. It gives one a sense of pride and satisfaction when his or her assignment is complete. In order to caring out courage actions, hard work will definitely be involved.
Nothing beats the feeling when a person accomplishes something and can look back at what has been completed with great relief. To look back what on the things you’ve fought for and achieved, is the greatest feeling indeed. For as the old saying goes, “if you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything.” You, the reader, can also gain this courage too, for we were made to be courageous.
