Couple's First Christmas

How to make your first Christmas with your new arm candy memorable

Couple's First Christmas

Make this Christmas season different, and try new things together.

1. Start a tradition!

Who knows if you two will be together next year or 10 years from now, but having a tradition is special and unique to your relationship. It gives you something to look forward to every holiday. If you stick together, think about how cute it will be to have a tradition of years and years.

2. Make a gingerbread house

This makes you two work together at something. It can make you closer, too. Can you make the house without eating it? Can you make doing this attractive and fun? Baking anything with your boyfriend/girlfriend can get messy and wild, so why not try with a gingerbread house?

3. Bring your childhood memories back to life

Share your favorite memories from Christmastime as a kid. Doing this will bring you two closer, and it will show a lot about yourself. Depending on your boyfriend/girlfriend's reaction, you'll know if they're a keeper. If they make you relive your favorite memory, or even buy you something small to symbolize the memory, chances are you won't want to let them go.

4. 25 days of Christmas movie marathon!

What is better than snacks, cuddles, and Christmas movies all day long? Nothing. So light a few candles, bring out the blankets and pillows, and put on ABC Family.

5. A meaningful gift

You can either go all out and spoil your significant other, or get small, significant gifts. Get him or her small gifts with meaning. Any girl will like a sweater or a necklace, but those don't require thought. Get a gift designed for her or him. Let her know you listen, get her the seasons of her favorite show, or even a picture frame with a picture of the two of you with a post-it on top about how in that moment, you thought to yourself how beautiful she is.

6. Ice Skating

You can always go to the movies, get dinner, and be romantic at home, but you can't always bundle up and go ice skating in the city! It is a fun, adventurous, romantic, and sometimes hysterical date. Even if you're clumsy and know you're going to fall 8,493,798 times, it will be so much fun, and gives you an excuse to be extra close to your lover. Plus, it will be cold. You can keep each other warm, and enjoy the city lights with a cup of hot chocolate.

7. Meeting family

This time around, try to talk to the folks more than normal. Chances are they are extra nice right now, so 'tis the time to rack up some brownie points. There are so many topics to talk about during the holidays. Ask about their favorite childhood memory, what the holiday means to them, what traditions do they have, what is their favorite holiday movie, and so much more.

8. Christmas caroling

Nobody does this anymore, but it is probably one of the most jolly things you will do all year. Who doesn't want to sing Christmas songs door to door? Drink some eggnog, and go out there, and sing your heart out with your lover and your friends! Brighten a family's night with some tunes!

9. Decorating the tree

This is always fun, and it will save your parents the trouble of doing all the work. Go crazy, and decorate the whole house! Getting into the spirit and fun will create a happy environment, and you will have a blast doing it.

10. Christmas cards

Christmas cards are always a funny, nice, sweet, cute surprise in the mail. It will be a fun and cute experience for you two as a couple. You'll have a couple more pics to post, too! This can also add to a scrapbook you two can make! Besides, what is more official than making a Christmas card together?

11. Play in the snow at home or on a vacation!

This is a no-brainer. Whether you go to a ski resort or stay at home, playing in the snow will make you relive childhood, and have endless laughs and smiles. Skiing, snowboarding, snowmen, igloos, tubing, snow angels, sledding, snowball fight, you name it - it will be the most fun you will have over winter break. Don't be scared of snow. Go roll around in it, and make a boring day one of the most fun. Then, get cozy and warm together when you're all done!

Don't be a scrooge. Get out there, and make this first or second or third Christmas together as a couple memorable!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
