Walking through the dry dirt to be greeted by the shining lights of the Ferris wheel and inviting smells of popcorn and funnel cakes means one thing: the county fair has arrived. Locals love when the county fair comes because of the food, the numerous events, and the rides and games. A great place for family and friends to get together, pig out, and enjoy the view from the Ferris wheel.
I know everyone has met that person who goes to the fair just for all the food, but who can blame them? It is the best. For starters, if there is something someone has never had fried, or even thought about being fried, it will be found at the fair. Fried Oreos, fried cheesecake, fried ice cream, and yes, even fried butter! The turkey legs and corn on the cob are so big they can be shared with a friend. One of the positive things about fair food, is that most of the food is served on sticks to keep fingers clean and food germ free. Cheesecake on a stick, steak and chicken on a stick, and of course corn dogs; as everyone knows they are always on a stick, but who cares, it is still a stick! Any snack or meal that can be thought of will be found at the county fair.
From tractors being pulled to beauty pageants, the fair’s entertainment is endless. On the left kids can be seen riding ponies, on the right teenagers and adults getting hypnotized believing that they are Cher, and in the audience roars of laughter and excitement to be heard. Even the local grandmas can have fun participating in contests to see who made the best pickled okra and apple pie. The fair has horse shows, dance shows, art exhibits, and tons of other cool things to watch or participate in. Sometimes there is even a monetary reward for being the winner at certain events. With the events alone, there's something guaranteed to entertain any and every age group.
Then, of course, there are the games and rides. Release anger by shooting guns at balloons, one can even picture the balloons as ex-boyfriends to spice up the effects. Releasing anger while having fun and winning prizes cannot beat that. Also, what is better than winning a giant minion for a significant other to forever keep on their bed (or in their closet, but that's okay)? Then walking past the fun house and stopping to take selfies in the fun mirrors to make one feel better about his already deformed body is always a blast. And of course to top off the night, one last ride on the Ferris wheel with a significant other to share smooches is a must.
There are many things that makes the fair awesome and welcoming to everyone who goes. Nothing like eating a funnel cake, watching the dance show, drinking a giant frozen lemonade, and being jerked around on the rides. Oh, and don't forget a giant bag of cotton candy on the way out.
