One of my favorite things about spending the summer back in Illinois would be all of the country concerts that happen all summer long. From small concerts like the Mattoon Bagelfest to the Illinois State Fair, you know there is always someone good playing here in Illinois. That being said, here's a list of concerts that will be happening in Illinois this summer!

1. June 17: Chase Rice

To start your summer concert bucket list off, on Friday June 17th Chase Rice will be playing at the Illinois State Fair Grounds in Springfield. I have personally seen him twice, once as an opening act and once as a headline. I definitely advise going to see him!

2. June 25: Jimmy Buffett

On Saturday June 25th, Jimmy Buffett will be playing at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre in Tinley Park.

3. July 8: Gary Allan

On Friday July 8th, Gary Allan will be playing at the Morgan County Fair Grounds in Jacksonville. This will definitely be a concert I try to go to! Personally I've always wanted to see Gary Allan so I'm sure this will be a great concert!

4. July 9: Brantley Gilbert

After Gary Allan's concert, take a nice drive from Jacksonville to Tinley Park on July 9th to see Brantley at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre. I have tons of friends who have seen Brantley live and they all say he's well worth the money.

5. July 23: Chase Bryant

At the Bagelfest, Chase Bryant will be headlining in Mattoon. Head over to Eastern Illinois for some good bagels and great entertainment.

6. July 24: Kenny Rogers

On Sunday July 24th, Kenny will be playing at the Ravinia Pavilion in Highland Park.

7. July 29: Miranda Lambert

On Friday July 29th, Miranda will be playing at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre in Tinley Park as well.

8. August 6: Eric Paslay

On Saturday August 6th, Eric Paslay will be headlining at the Logan County Fair in Lincoln.

8. August 7: Rascal Flatts

On Sunday August 7th, head back to Tinley Park to see Rascal Flatts.

9. August 12-21: Illinois State Fair

Wrap up your summer by heading out to the Illinois State Fair in Springfield to see Jake Owen with Old Dominion on Sunday August 14th, Dierks Bentley on the 16th and Cole Swindell on the 20th.

Of course this barely touches all of the concerts that will be happening this summer but you get the idea. I hope everyone finds this useful and stays safe while traveling to see your favorite country artists this summer!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
