It’s official, we’re one week away from the first day of fall! Yep, that’s right just 7 whole days until September 22, when you can shamelessly break out those leggings, trendy sweaters and pumpkin spice galore!

We’re counting down the days until fall with these 7 reasons to be excited!

1. Pumpkin Spice Everything

Yep, you guessed it! Pumpkin spice is already pretty much everywhere and let’s be honest; it couldn’t have come soon enough. We know, judge us as you might while we sip on our lattes and light up our seasonal candles this fall.

2. Leggings—Leggings Everyday

Go ahead, let you’re inner basic white girl shine and break out those comfy leggings you’ve been dying to wear all summer. When else can you get away with going out in basically sweats and an over-sized shirt or sweater? Unless you’ve got a workout planned or just choose to rock leggings at the grocery store, we know you’ve been waiting for the cooler weather to come along.

3. Boots, Boots and More Boots

What’s almost as exciting as bringing your leggings back out? That’s right, boots! We know you’ve been looking for an excuse to step into those new boots but the temperatures just don’t justify it yet. Well don’t worry, we’re just one week out from the official first day of fall and you can shamelessly rock your new kicks.

4. Football Season is in Full Swing

Football is everywhere during this time of year! After kicking off the college season with a record-breaker at the Battle at Bristol, it’s safe to say, football season is here. Once NFL and college football is back on TV, craze that runs from Thursday through Monday.

5. Bonfires & Fall Festivals

You can’t resist a good bonfire this season, after all, is it really fall without a bonfire? Top that off with some county fairs and some home grown music festivals, who wouldn’t be excited?

6. Scenic Hikes and Outdoor Adventures

The colors of fall are by far one of the best features to look forward to! And there’s no better time to enjoy a hike when the temperature starts to cool. You wont regret heading out for a new outdoor adventure this season.

7. Halloween Fun

Last but not least, what’s fall without some Halloween fun? Get ready for costume parties, corn mazes, haunted houses and horror movie reruns! Oh and don’t forget, the sugar overload from all the tasty Halloween goodies.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines.
