Cosmo Snap Story Taking The (Girl) World By Storm

Unless you have been living under a rock for the last few years, you know that Snapchat has taken the world of social media by storm. What was once a simple app that you could send pictures for 10 seconds or less, has now turned into a source for news and entertainment from all around the world.

Sure it was exciting to get filters, Geotags, and to be able to listen to music while you Snapchat, but one of the most underrated uses of the app is the “Discover” section. This area allows companies from People, CNN and the Food Network to post stories on a daily basis.

If you are anything like me, you were less than excited when this feature came out in January. I did like some of the companies and brands featured, but I didn’t really care to watch anything that they had to offer.

But then I discovered the best snap story of all: Cosmopolitan. Here are six reasons why the Cosmo Snapstory is the best thing that has happened to Snapchat so far:

1. It is entertaining.

There hasn’t been a story yet that didn’t end up interesting and entertaining, whether it caught my eye at first or not. The best part is that the articles are pretty short and get right to the point, as all Snapchats should be.

I'm lucky to have a group of friends that are equally obsessed with the story, and I wake up to Cosmo Snapchat graphics and GIFs daily. The best part is that a lot of them are customizable, and leave spaces for you to add exactly how a french bulldog in a tutu is making you feel.

2. It is informative.

Not only are the stories they post entertaining, but they are often pretty informative as well. Cosmo does a great job of not only mentioning the arrival of pumpkin spice lattes and weekly horoscope updates, but they talk about more serious topics like mental health as well.

True to typical Cosmo fashion, they have no fear when talking about sex and all of the awkward, uncomfortable and embarrassing things that go along with it. They fill their stories with everything from sex horror stories to informing us on the newest emojis that will soon be gracing our touch-screen keyboards.

3. It is relatable.

One of the biggest reasons for Cosmo’s story and its growing popularity is the amount of content that is relatable to our generation. There are not many sources out there that are able to post almost anything they wish. From a graphic talking about your emotions towards not having any clean underwear, to your mood on a Friday when it’s time to get your drink on. Cosmo seems to know how every girl is feeling just about every day of the week, and lets them share that with all of the girls' friends.

4. It is creative.

Above all else I think it’s safe to say that the Cosmo Snapchat story is extremely creative. It is witty and clever and I literally question every single day how they come up with half of the stuff that is on it. Not only are their article ideas and stories creative and rarely seen anywhere else, but their graphics are really cute as well. They put just the right amount of eyebrow issues with doughnut puns to make for one genius creative mess of a story.

5. It is free.

Unlike the Cosmo magazine, the Snapchat app is completely free, and luckily so is all of the wonderful content it possesses. The Cosmo story also gets updated daily at 6 a.m., and stays up for 24 hours so you have plenty of time to bask in all of it’s glory.

6. It is inspirational.

Not only do I use the story as a form of daily entertainment, but as inspiration as well. If my horoscope says I'm going to find "the one" this week, you best believe I'll be putting in extra effort when I get ready in the morning.

It tells me this week is a time for achievement at work, I'll absolutely turn in applications to every job opportunity I see and totally overwhelm myself because, well, Cosmo told me to. I probably have too much riding on the things Cosmo tells me I can or should do, but then again, who doesn't?

If you haven't already, go check out all of the wonderful things Cosmo has to offer, I promise you'll be as obsessed as I am.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
