Conspiracy Theories That Make You Think

Can It Be True?

What if - it is a question that everyone asks themselves or other people all the time. It’s also a question that is synonymous with the concept of conspiracy theories. A conspiracy theory is a belief that an event or person is not what or who they are believed to be. In this article, I will talk about some of the conspiracy theories that are common amongst many people. Some are common knowledge and some may be inconspicuous to a number of individuals. So let’s just get right to it.

For those of you who care about pop culture and the world of entertainment as much as I do, you probably know that singers Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez are not as close as they used to be. Remember, these two used to be closer than sisters as they grew up together in the industry, appearing on Barney and Friends together as little girls. However, lately, these two seem to be on the outs and their relationship has been strained. But nobody seems to know why. In addition, whenever either of them are asked about their relationship with the other, they would give the general response of “oh, we just grew apart. Sometimes it happens. But I wish you the best of luck.”

So what really happened between these two pop sensations? Conspiracy theorists believe that they weren’t friends at all. In fact, many believe that they were more than friends - they were lovers - and the reason why they aren’t close anymore is because Selena Gomez dumped Demi Lovato to pursue a “relationship” with Justin Bieber. While Demi has been open about her sexuality, coming out publicly to state that she has been with women in the past, Selena may not have wanted to be as open about her personal life. Instead, she wanted to pursue a manufactured relationship with Justin Bieber to not only keep her sexuality a secret, but also to help the sales of her album. Seeing that every song on both Justin and Selena’s albums are about each other, and the number of sales for both were really great, it all would not be a big surprise. Demi, meanwhile, has just been a bitter ex this whole time, allegedly.

Remember that infamous Britney Spears meltdown back in 2007? She was all over the news every day acting out and doing something new every time. Well, what if her “meltdown” wasn’t a meltdown at all? What if it was all a set-up as a distraction from something else? Many conspiracy theorists believe that Britney’s meltdown was all planned and executed by the Bush administration, who made a deal with Britney to have a meltdown as a way to distract the public from all of Bush’s wrongdoings. Remember, at this time, Bush was making terrible choices for the country and the unemployment rate was at a record high, thanks to the global financial crisis. Bush was not doing anything to help matters here in the United States. Because of this, Bush wanted the attention off of him and onto something else - or someone else. That someone, allegedly, just so happened to be none other than Britney Spears, a long-time Bush supporter.

This final conspiracy theory has nothing to do with celebrities, but it is still one that gets me every time I hear about it. You know how every time there is a crisis in the world, such as the Orlando Nightclub shooting or the Boston Marathon bombing, news correspondents are always on a mission to seek victims involved in the crisis to interview? Well, what if the people we see being interviewed are actually actors? That’s what a lot of conspiracy theorists are saying and the term used for these people are “crisis actors”, who are, allegedly, hired by the government or the mainstream media to deceive the public. The reason why such deception takes place is unknown.

However, there are videos to prove that this theory is actually true. Take, for example, the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Sandy Hook, Connecticut, where 20 children, between 6 and 7 years old, were fatally and tragically killed by 20-year-old, Adam Lanza. When the television news began reporting on this horrific event, they started to interview individuals who either survived the shooting, or were parents of the children who passed away. One person in particular, was a man who was allegedly a father of one of the little girls who were killed, who gave a press conference talking about the event and about his daughter.

The press conference had not started yet, but the camera was on him before he was called to step up and speak. Prior to being called up to talk about what happened, he was smiling and laughing, not realizing the camera was on him the entire time. He was then asked to come forward by somebody off camera. As he stepped up, you can hear him say, as he continues to smile: “do I just start? I’ve never done this before.” When he was instructed to begin speaking, his whole mood and demeanor changed and he began to weep and talk in a shaky voice as if he was about to cry. However, no tears came down his face the entire time he spoke. Was he an actor? And how many of these “crisis actors” are do we actually see being interviewed during tragic events? Some conspiracy theorists go as far as to say that events such as the Sandy Hook Shooting never even happened at all; that it was all a big hoax orchestrated by the government to convince the public that we need, as a country, need more restrictive gun laws, with the ultimate purpose of taking away the 2nd amendment, allegedly.

Well there you have it people! Three conspiracy theories that you may or may not have heard of. If these sound interesting to you and make you think, there are way more conspiracy theories out there that have to do with government corruption/cover ups, secret societies, more hoaxes, and even cloning! I will probably do another article talking about these as well! Until next time, happy thinking!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
