Why I Am A Conservative

No, I am not evil, I am a conservative.

No, I am not a misogynist, bigot or anti-progressive because I lack the same viewpoints of the left. There are several reasons why I never identified with liberal Democrats and all of them are quite simple: I hold conservative principles close to my heart and am pragmatic when it comes to achieving these principles.

Let me explain why I am not a liberal. Simply put, liberal values do not make sense to me. For example, liberals support mass Muslim immigration, which runs counter to other things they stand for. Muslims believe in suppressing women’s rights, but you’ll still see feminist support their integration into American society. I just think it’s funny how they are so against the “patriarchy” in America but support a group that follows Sharia Law which basis comes from “patriarchy.” And gays, why do you support people immigrating into your country who believe your lifestyle should be a crime? This all just seems counterintuitive to me.

Let’s also talk about gun control. I call on every politician that believes in regulations on guns to walk around with no armed security in the most dangerous parts of the country. As a matter of fact, let’s just abolish the Secret Service because guns are so dangerous, or give them water guns instead and teach them persuasive techniques on how to stop sick-minded individuals from committing crimes. Yeah, that should work. Lets also point out that the most damaged cities in the country, for example Detroit, keep voting democrats into office and see things become worse. Maybe it’s time for a change -- am I right, progressives? Oh and to the Black Lives Matter liberals who talk about killing cops and play rap anthems when they riot, as liberals you aren’t suppose to support the carrying of guns and blasting the heads off people. But hey, I guess this is what happens when a huge part of the democratic base lives off the government and expects college to be free.

I am a Conservative because I believe that every human has great potential. I believe that big government ruins this potential because it expects less of people and leaves everything up to itself instead of allowing it’s people to work hard for what they want. I also do not trust today’s “intellectuals” in deciding our progressive future. Liberals want immediate change and that is not possible. We need to learn from our past and those who came before us instead of destroying traditions that this country has valued for years upon years. Simply put, I do not support handouts. I am for family, and against abortion. I am for the ownership of guns. I support our police, firefighters and veterans. I desire to keep American principles in America instead of making this a hotbed for radical ideologies. So call me what you want all because my ideas don’t match yours, but I am a conservative and I couldn’t be prouder of my view on how this country should be.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
