When I was a kid, Pokemon was one of my favorite things in the world. I watched the show on TV whenever it was on and had all the movies on VHS. I played the video games on my GameBoy (and still do on my Nintendo 3DS) and collected all the cards. I had a poster in my room of all the original Pokemon, memorized their names and sounds and knew all of their moves. I was pretty much obsessed, and I guess you can say that I still am now. With all of that said, you can probably imagine how I felt when Niantic finally released PokemonGo.
This game has seriously taken over my life, and I think that a lot of people can agree with that. Naturally, I decided to ask people how PokemonGo has affected them so far and what crazy things they have done while playing it... I think the responses were pretty great!
1. "One time, we were using the Pokemon Navigator before it got shut down, and we saw a Dragonair pop up at the local Steak and Shake. We got out of bed at midnight to go catch it." - a couple in Kennesaw
Why go on an actual date when you can go catch Pokemon?
2. "Where I work, there's a PokeStop, so naturally, I'm on my phone the whole time... even when customers walk up." - employee at UGA Bookstore
How does she still work there?
3. "My professor saw me playing PokemonGo in class, asked me what I caught and then made me leave." - Georgia State student
A+ in Pokemon catching, F in whatever class that was.
4. "I once caught a Squirtle while I was pooping." - Columbus State student and friend who gives out way too much info
Seriously, I did not need to know that.
5. "My fat a** was trudging through the woods trying to get to the PokeStop when I ran out of Pokeballs." - father of two in Lawrenceville
I don't care what anyone says, PokemonGo is a work out!!
6. "I was driving, and my friend screamed, 'PULL OVER.' And of course he was trying to beat a gym." - Georgia Southern student, obsessed after having zero prior knowledge about Pokemon
We all know not to PokemonGo and drive, but we do it anyways.
7. "I had the shit scared out of me by a cat while I was staring at my phone. It hissed at me when I threw a Pokeball." - boy in his apartment in Canton
Digital creatures > actual living things
