Reading books can take you anywhere from the comfort of anywhere. To read a book is like seeing a show on the television, but you set the rules of how the voices sound and what the people truly look like from the description that the author gives you.

A bibliophile is a someone who obsesses over books. I used to collect books to fill a void in my heart that adventure could only fill. With one bookcase full and piles of books that did not fit, they used to be my constant companions. Books can make you feel emotions that is seldom seen on daily life.

These are confessions of a former bibliophile that are not talked about often.

1. The new/old book smell is addicting.

There is a crispness and clean smell to a fresh out of the printing press book. It reminds me of a new adventure when you step foot out of the house. The freshness in the air and a spring in your step. It gets me excited to learn of the new places that authors describe. Old books have an air of wisdom, and a comfort like the arms of a loved one. It's that person that you love to greet at the end of the hard day. It can calm the worst anxiety attack with the weight and smell.

2. Bookstores are like second homes.

Lets get this straight, it's very hard for a bibliophile to walk in to a bookstore and out with no books. Whenever I walk into Barnes & Noble or any other book shop, I always walk out with at least one book. One book is super rare, whereas normally I walk out with three or four. Considering I used to visit the book shops at least once a week, I think I had a problem. Being surrounded by the books filled the void that people could not fill. I could spend endless time being surrounded by books because of the shelter they give.

3. Libraries are our safe haven.

The public library is perfect for those who could not get to the book store readily. I would ride to the library during summer vacations before I got friends that had a mode of transportation. I would go through books every few days. I am thankful that my library in my small town was 10 away minutes by bike. It was the only reason I got a cell phone earlier than most of my friends. I would sometimes spend from open to close at the library working on different hobbies.

These are just a few confessions that every bibliophile has. There are more personality traits of a bibliophile because we tend to be quirky people. We love adventure, but it's not all about stepping out the front door. The adventures can be inside our imagination or with a book in our hand with a mountain view.

The beauty of a book is that it is not battery powered, and it tends to be cheaper than most technology.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
