Music is a huge part of my life. By now, probably half of my college campus (I maybe exaggerating slightly) has seen me walking around the trail with my headphones on or jamming in my dorm room at night. Though all of my favorite songs are amazing to listen to through my laptop or on my phone, nothing will ever compare to the feeling I get from going to a live concert.
The experience starts hours before the concert as you wait in line. You and your friends left the house bright and early in the morning, and are now waiting excitedly outside the doors. Whether you're sweating as you wait for Lollapalooza in the middle of summer or freezing as you wonder why this band had to tour in the middle of January, the weather conditions are hardly noticed as everyone waits in line for the concert at hand… only eleven hours away now.
Finally, as you began to lose hope that those venue doors will ever open, the line starts to move. Quickly. Suddenly, all of your friends are yelling to hurry and pack up your stuff and the people in front of you leave their blanket and food on the sidewalk; it wasn’t important at the moment. The crowd, which was somewhat quiet minutes before, is now alive with the energy of hundreds of fans ready to rock out to a great band. You push your way through a herd of bodies and run into the venue. The adrenaline rush is unbeatable.
Then, after waiting a little longer, the lights start to dim and the crowd starts to scream. Finally, after ten plus hours of waiting, the moment has come. The band rushes onto the stage. You realize that the loud screaming and crying is coming from you. The video you tried to take is shaky since you’re jumping up and down with the crowd. The band that you're listening to since you were thirteen is actually in front of you and those songs you listened to in your car hundreds of times are being performed--and they sound so much better live than they ever did through the speakers. The crowd is pulsing around you, singing along to your favorite lyrics. The excitement, adrenaline, and energy are high. Nothing in life can beat hearing the music you love surrounded by people who feel the same way about it as you.
The concert will sadly end soon enough and as you leave, comparing videos and photos you took with your friends, you’ll feel a strange bittersweet feeling of pure happiness and sadness. However, the memories made will stick with you forever. Each concert experience is unable to be recreated. Whether it's your first or tenth time seeing the artist, each concert is as beautiful as the first one you went to, and each one instantly makes it to the top of your “Best Days of My Life" life, without fail.
