If you did not spend all your money on spontaneous trips with friends or family, and you’re looking for summer’s last salvation before the Fall semester rolls in, look no further. The music scene in D.C. ranges from outside to indoor venues, with current and up and coming artists lined up. You would be surprised what concerts you could attend without breaking the bank.
Jiffy Lube Live is the perfect venue for a Fall evening on the lawn.
Jason Alden 09/12 $66 Jiffy Lube Live
If the stuffy, smoky club scene is not your thing and you prefer lying on the lawn while hearing the deep, southern sounds of country music, and going back to grass roots—then get your shiniest penny out for Jason Aldean's "Burn It Down Tour." Alongside of him will be well known Tyler Farr and Cole Swindell. Be sure to catch the early tailgating that usually ensues at this venue with other fans. The lawn at Jiffy Lube is one of the best outdoor venues solely because it’s on a hill, and you are allowed to bring your own blanket or lawn chair.
The Verizon Center serves as a sports and music venue and seats over 18,000 people.
Ed Sheeran 09/23 $56.50 Verizon Center
Grammy nominated UK artist, Ed Sheeran is a chart topper who’s performing at the almost sold out show at the Verizon Center. This is one of the larger and spacious venues in Washington D.C where Sheeran has the ability to really put on a show with lights, lively acoustics and a variety of seat options. With his love spell new album “X,” Sheeran doesn’t shy away from bringing energy and rhythm to his show to spotlight his charm.
Lianne La Havas 09/23 $33.50 9:30 Club
Lianne La Havas hurdles the music scene with soulful elegance with her new album Blood. The 9:30 club is opening their doors to the young Jamaican and Greek decent songwriter. La Havas powerful ballads seem effortless, but expressive. As weightless as her chords are with dreamy verses, her music sounds like something you would overhear at Starbucks. It’s only a matter of time before her music becomes Fall’s new R&B sound.

Marian Hill 09/25 $15 U Street Music Hall
A mix of sultry R&B soul with calculated beats, two college kids from Philadelphia, with modern melodies—you get Marian Hill. Their music integrates the saxophone, a soundboard and jazzy vocals. It’s hard to believe the electronic duo hasn’t been on repeat on local radio stations yet, but be the first in attendance to their soon to be packed show.
The Neighborhood 09/26 $40 9:30 Club
It’s not sweater weather quite yet, but The Neighborhood is coming to the 9:30 Club with Bad Suns and Hunny. It’s surprising a band this well-known isn’t playing at a larger venue for a steeper price, but it proves the band remains attached their fans by performing in close intimate settings. Their music is the epitome of rock with R&B and hip hop influences, which brings a diverse group of fans at their shows.

MS MR 10/01 $30 9:30 Club
MS MR is comprised of Lizzy Plapinger and Max Hershenow who are kicking off their “How Does it Feel Tour” for their sophomore album. While it’s been two years since their first album, MS MR is a promising band that maintains momentum in their music. The lyrics this time around are more personal and daring. If you’re a fan of synth-pop, hip swaying music with dramatic vocals—don’t miss this show. Also, for each ticket purchased, $1 will be donated to the Third Wave Fund.
Mikky Ekko 10/24 $15 U Street Music Hall
Mikky Ekko is no stranger to the music industry. He has worked with Rihanna, David Guetta and is signed by the major label RCA, releasing his new album Time. You might remember him featuring in Rihanna’s heart wrenching song Stay. Ekko is easily one of the more underrated artists in the United States, but his fame is largely known in European countries. His sound is authentic and poised with a clash of electronic riffs.
There’s a little bit of everything for everyone this coming Fall. The venues in the northern Virginia area are some of the best because of the variety we have; however, tickets often sell quickly. Payments for tickets can be done with the click of the button and tickets sent to you or at the Will Call office the day of. The convenience of concerts are enough to get you excited to round up your friends and take the evening to enjoy live music.
