A Concert-Goers Bucket List

Concerts are so much more fun if you do them the right way and make it special.

Anyone who has ever been to a concert knows how exciting they are. There is truly nothing more magical than seeing a favorite musical act perform live. However, there are things that can make a concert even more amazing than just being in attendance.

1. Meet the band

Getting to meet your favorite band or musician is such a treat. Being able to connect with them one-on-one is so special. Some venues or artists do not charge for meet and greets while some do, so when you order tickets, see if there is a higher ticket price designated for meeting the performer(s). Also, be familiar with how the venue's process for meeting the musician(s) works. Sometimes the meet and greet is before the show while other times it is after. The location may vary as well.

2. Sit front row

While these tickets are more expensive than seats towards the back, sitting front row at a concert gives you an experience like no other. You get to hear the performer(s) better and see them without people blocking your view. You can hear things that those who are far away may miss and you have the opportunity to connect with the performers on a personal level since you are so close.

3. Get the band to dedicate a song to you or someone in your party

If you see a performer or band enough times, they may come to recognize you. They may also recognize you if you interact with them regularly on social media. This often leads to them dedicating a song to you. However, if you catch the band in the lobby before the show or at intermission and have a reason for them to dedicate a song to you or someone you are with, they just might. It is an amazing feeling to have an entire crowd listening to a song that is now yours.

4. Go with people who mean the world to you

While going to a concert alone can be fun, surrounding yourself with friends and/or family who you can have fun with makes all the difference. They may be willing to get up and dance with you. Making a night of it by going to eat before or after the show only adds to the fun. Sharing the event with the people in your life will give you something to talk about for years to come, creating memories that will last forever.

5. Buy merchandise to remember the event

Most performers have merchandise for sale in the lobby of the theater. Purchasing merchandise not only supports the musician(s) bit also gives you something tangible to help you remember the night by. Some people have even purchased t-shirts and have made t-shirt quilts from various shows they have attended. Wearing a concert t-shirt is also a great way to start a conversation and meet fellow fans when you are out and about.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
