Music has always been apart of my life. When I was little, my dad used to work at a music company. I remember visiting him at work and recording myself singing Karaoke on a CD. Listening to music is the only way I survive car rides, long walks, cooking, getting through laundry and getting through homework. When it comes to music, you connect with it emotionally, physically or mentally. Emotionally, maybe you have that one song that reminds you of a loved one. Physically, maybe you would be participating in a dance. Mentally, maybe for you it's just great therapy and helps with your mood. Having different genres with music are important. It creates diversity and each song tells a different story. Whether it is just listening to music or dancing to music, you are participating in a great art. Music is a healthy way to express yourself and how you might feel. One healthy way to celebrate music is by going to concerts.
Concerts have been proven by studies to activate your brain and help you relax more. They are not only fun to go to but also been proven to help your health. In a CNN article, "This is your brain on music", it talks about how the Superior Temporal Gyrus in your brain is active when you listen to music. Another article I researched was called "Going to concerts regularly leads to a happier life, according to a new study", from the COS. This article discussed a new study conducted in Australia from 2016. It found out that those who were exposed to a music experience had higher levels of satisfaction with their lives. If you think about it, when you go to a concert, you surrounded yourself with people you haven’t met before. You have that one thing in common of enjoying the artist or band that is playing. It's a great activity to plan with friends and family. For one night, you can dress up and be a part of that music. That T-shirt you make or end up buying becomes something meaningful afterward.
My concert experiences have been unique and special. Taylor Swift and Panic at the Disco were the concerts I have been to. Both concerts I had seen with my best friends. Taylor Swift was special to me because it was my first concert. Panic at the Disco was during this past summer with one of my best friends. It was exciting to find out how much I resonate with Brendan Urie on a personality level. During his concert, he had this great energy and positive vibe. I saw him perform at PNC Bank in Holmdel, NJ. The artists on my concert bucket list I'm eager to see would be Future, Niki Minaj, Demi Lovato, The Weeknd, Kid Ink and Fall Out Boy. My advice to you, if you haven’t been to a concert yet, go for the experience! If you have been to concerts, keep going! Look out for genres, bands or artists that you can resonate with!
