It's something we are all guilty of, comparing ourselves to others. You take one look at someone and their life, and you think, "Wow, why can't I be like that?" Well, let me be the one to tell you, don't do that.
It's so easy to do, especially considering the amount of time our generation spends on social media nowadays. We follow celebrities, seeing their magazine-worthy selfies, and immediately think about how lackluster our own are in comparison to theirs. Sometimes, it isn't even celebrities that we compare ourselves to. Ordinary people, our peers, can be just as intimidating as any famous actress. Correct me if I'm wrong, but, chances are you've been out somewhere and compared yourself to those around you. Your clothes, hair, size, make-up, whatever. More than likely, you compared some part of you to some part of them. This is so unhealthy, and so not fair to you.
No matter how perfect someone may seem, you have no way of knowing all of the little insecurities they may have about themselves. Just as you may be unhappy with your freckles, the girl you've put on a pedestal may be unhappy with her size. You see, everyone has something about themselves they wish they could change. But think about this, you're the only you on this planet. There is no one exactly like you, and there never will be. Sure, there will always be someone smarter, prettier, or better than you are. But instead of dwelling on everything they are that you aren't, take time to think about what you are.
You are unique. Like I said, there is only one of you on this earth. Whether you want to believe it or not, you were created perfectly, because God makes no mistakes. He loves you exactly how you were created, and He knows that someone else will too.
You are a blessing. Think about how many people are in your life, and how much those people mean to you. Sometimes, you don't know what you'd do without them, or how you'd even survive. Now, if that's how you feel, don't you think there are people who feel the same way about you?
You have a purpose. You were placed on this earth for a reason, and God's plan for you will unfold exactly how He wants it to. All of those supposed 'flaws' that you can't stand? They're a part of who you are and the plan that He has for you. So accept them, and stop wishing away everything that makes you, you.
While it's something we are all guilty of, comparison will eventually kill us. If we are so caught up in everything we're not, and what other people are, then we'll lose sight of we are. Stop worrying about everything you're not, focus on what you are, and strive to be the best you that you can be.
