Here's to all the graduates!

Commencement marks the end of college and the beginning of 'adult' life, whatever that means.

1. There's a lot of people here!

My high school graduation was 60 people...this was a shock.

2. Am I confused about the directions or is everyone else confused too?

I feel lost in the crowd and it's taking me a second to figure out how to get into the venue.

3. Alright, I see people in cap and gowns.

I'll follow them.

4. Well, security was easier than expected.

I thought I'd have to open my gown, but nope, the wand was waved over me and I was good to go.

5. I'm too short for the crowd.

I can't see where to go in the crowd of people in the waiting area.

6. Now to find my friends.

Let's be honest, friends help commencement go by faster.

7. How do my feet already hurt?

We've only been here 20 minutes but the waiting is making it worse. Keep moving to avoid the pain.

8. Alright, looks like they're moving us out of the waiting area.

Here we go!

9. That's a lot of stairs!

I'm so happy I wore flat shoes because with my track record, I would have tripped down the stairs in heels.

10. Why are we still standing?

The Masters graduates are sitting but we're standing...I guess I'll stand to be courteous.

11. ...and I'm thirsty.

I'm also hungry by now, but we haven't even started.

12. Does my head hurt or is it the cap?

This is not the time for a headache.

13. Nope, it's the cap.

I didn't expect it to feel so tight.

14. I'm going to have a nice mark on my forehead.

And low and behold, I did!

15. Sound like we're starting.

Talking means the beginning of the commencement ceremony.

16. How many people have already received their diploma covers?

I've lost count because I feel like I've heard over one hundred names already.

17. The name pronunciations are on point.

Fingers crossed they don't mess up my name.

18. Am I going to mess up when it's my turn?

Let's hope not, but my hands are starting to get sweaty now.

19. Take note of what to do on stage.

The huge screen is both comforting to see how to accept the diploma and scary because everyone can see you.

20. Where did everyone go?

I thought the email told us to stay until the end.

21. There's a camera.

Smile!

22. Don't mess up on stage.

This would be the worse time to trip and fall.

23. Smile again!

There's yet another camera at the bottom of the stairs.

24. This is running longer than scheduled.

I'm not surprised, though, since there are a lot of people.

25. We did it!

With the tassel on the left, it's official!

26. And now to find my family in the crowd.

And somehow get a ride back home.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
