There's nothing quite like coming back home after living on your own in what seems like a world away at school. You come home and there are the happy embraces from family and friends, trying to unpack but never really getting around to it, and answering the same questions from every family member. It's exciting and stressful and maybe even a bit awkward coming back home. "New Girl" may help describe 10 different experiences that you go through during those first few weeks being back home after spending so much time away:
1. Having to leave all your new best friends 'cause most likely they all live in different states than you
2. Coming home and finding that everything has been moved around
3. When your parents ask if your grades were good
4. Seeing your BFFs again after so many months apart
5. Learning all the new hometown gossip
6. Seeing and avoiding those people you hated in high school around town
7. Not having to live off of ramen and cereal anymore
8. Not getting that summer bod you wanted because of number 7
9. Wanting to go back to school because you're bored AF
10. When days become weeks and you still haven't managed to fully unpack
Coming home is great, but it can also be difficult. You have basically two sides of you now. There's a school you and a home you and it's a hard adjustment to make every time you come and go. Things are changing all around you and it's hard to keep up! Your friends change, your siblings change, you change and even your hometown itself may seem different. But none of this is necessarily a bad thing. It's the prime time in our lives to get out into the world and discover ourselves. But there's still nothing quite like coming home and sharing your stories with the people you left behind; there will always be that little bit of comfort and completeness when you walk through your front door.
