"Last Comic Standing" on NBC is great for relaxing and letting out laughs. The variety of comics makes it even better as there are so many different styles and personalities. This season we see a new face who is "young as hell": Taylor Tomlinson. The 21-year-old started doing stand-up comedy at 16 and is killing it on "Last Comic." Because of her young age, she relates so well to those in their 20s. Most of her material on the show seems to focus on relationships and dating. For 20-somethings, this is a big aspect of life. Tomlinson is not just funny, but relatable. Her material is well-written and well-executed to the point where I believe she could win the show. Here are reasons why I believe she has what it takes.
She has potential.
As a young comic, Tomlinson has years to develop and grow. This is great for someone starting a tour or show as she gains attention and then have followers for years. Think of Amy Schumer. She started young, gradually gained attention and is now a huge hit! This could be Tomlinson.
She has her own style.
Though I just compared her to Schumer, I want to be clear she is not Schumer. Tomlinson is her own person with her own set of jokes. With her young demeanor, you would not expect her to be so feisty. Also, have you seen her signature leather jacket? Obviously, her fashion style is fantastic.
Her jokes are real.
Tomlinson focuses on her life. This goes from anything like family situations to dating life, and almost everyone has had similar experiences. Her bit where she uses the hot scale is hilarious. Everyone can relate to being at a bar and seeing a guy and thinking, "Hey, I can hit on that." That bit is not just funny but good advice. Don't aim too high! But also if you feel pretty, go for that seven.
I can't wait to see what else Tomlinson has in store for the remaining episodes of "Last Comic Standing." Her confidence on stage is strong, and with more material, I am sure she can continue to get laughs out of both the judges and America.
