I will admit, I have a weird yet amazing obsession with the amazing colors of our amazing country. July 4th is by far my favorite holiday. I mean, I go to Florida State, how can it not be? Anyhow, the red, white, and blue hit me with a deeper meaning for some unknown reason. It started two summers ago with a pair of peace sign glasses from Walmart. Don't ask me why those are the item that hooked me, but they did.
These are the lovely glasses that started it all. Sophomore summer Jenny really killed it in these. I did not take them off for the remainder of the summer. I am a bit embarrassed, but I am also a bit proud for being so ahead of my time.
In the past few years since then, America-themed shirts, shorts, bathing suits, and other various items have really made a comeback. I am thrilled that they have, though, because they are amazing.
Let's fast forward to my junior summer of high school. I had a whole year to acquire red, white, and blue, and trust me, I nailed it. I probably could have worn a few versions of this outfit simply because I had a few of each article of clothing, but I, unfortunately, could not wear them all at once.
I never actually wore all of these items at the same time (besides for this trial night) for very obvious reasons. I did not even have my accessories on here because I got too excited about the actual articles of clothing and forced my friend to take a picture of me in all my glory.
Lucky enough for me the theme of my senior homecoming week was "All American" and since I was on the dance team, I performed my final pep rally dance. Also lucky for me, I was my senior class's vice president, which meant I got to participate in an event at the rally. Unlucky for me, this is what happened to my face. Hooray for shaving cream and cheese balls while in patriotic colors?
And finally, the big one occurred this past week, my first Florida State Fourth. I did not go all out because I realized I had to look like somewhat of a normal human being, but myself along with at least half of Pots wore this super cute crochet top from Forever 21.
I guess my patriotic style has evolved a bit since my peace sign glasses, but those will always be a classic. If anyone knows any places for cute things to do with my style, let me know. I'm already starting my shopping for next year.
