The acronym HBCU means historically black colleges and universities while PWI stands for predominately white institutions. People have their own opinions about them. Some people will say that going to an HBCU will not make you become successful. Then other people will say that going to a PWI will is better than going to a HBCU. The way I see it is the institution is not what makes the person successful but it is the student of the institution that makes their self successful. Neither of the two types of institutions is better than the other. The person that attends the school makes that choice if they love the school. Going to an HBCU does not mean you have to be black to attend the school. When people hear the name black, they automatically assume blacks can attend which is false. Historically blacks have been the group of people to attend those schools. People will say HBCUs are not going to prepare you for the real world because the schools their selves are not diverse. That is false because its different people from different places that will attend an HBCU. As well as that doing internships will help prepare you for the real world. The person that is attending the school needs to make an initiative to be do internships so they can be prepared for what the real world has to offer. The way that people perceive HBCUs is the way of being a negative. Education is education long as the person that is attending the institution is doing the necessary things to be successful. Just attending a PWI or HBCU and getting straight As wont make the student successful. Being a student at an HBCU or PWi is more to just going to classes and getting a 4.0 its also about making connections with people that can possibly help when in need of help. As well as making connections, it is also about being social. Being a social person can make a person very valuable in the workforce. Going to either of the two institutions will make you become successful. Now the major key is who will make the difference at the institutions. The institutions are giving you the building blocks to become the person you want to be.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
