College: As Told By Netflix Shows

College is full of transitions. You go from being a lost, lanky, wandering freshman to a (think you) know it all sophomore. Then you come back for junior year as a whole new person, full of direction and passion only to land in your senior year depressed, and yet again lost. As these confusing times fly by, full of things that come and go, you'll find one constant thing to count on during your crazy college life: Netflix. It is the one class you know you could ace and you spend your time examining the characters of each show rather than studying for your next exam. It's both your late night buddy and your long term bae and no matter where you are in college, you know it will always be there for you. Although each year brings new joys, tears, and transitions, have no fear because Netflix will surely have something for you. Here are the perfect shows to watch as you progress through college.

Freshman Year: LOST

The title says it all. You are a just a lost, little puppy on this overwhelming island known as college. You have to balance your new life of school, extra curriculars, partying and, of course, your new found freedom. Soon into the school year you'll think you're navigating it all just fine until one day you'll find some abandoned barracks full of computers, numbers and tons crazy people: also know as the math computer labs. Similar to the DHAMRA Initiative, math (and pretty much any other class for that matter) is the real enemy. As you fall behind in class due to your overachieving at the bars, you'll flash back to the easier times of high school- just as the characters of LOST do. This show, although sure to keep you up until 4 a.m. with all the lights on (spoiler alert: this show gets scary), is the perfect addiction for your freshman year frenzy. It's all about finding yourself, accepting your fate, and figure your way out through the good and bad in the world, which is really what freshman year is all about.

Sophomore Year: Orange Is The New Black

This Netflix original is the definition of sophomore year. As Piper gets past season 1 (read: freshman year) learning the ins and outs of prison, you're coming into your second year, all knowing and ready for anything. You've gotten used to the day by day activities: classes, meetings, chapter, etc. and your class schedule is much easier to handle now that you got that hang of things. Like Piper, you mostly just try to get through the year and think about summer but the little hiccups along that way remind you why college is so exciting. But by the end of the second season you'll be tired of the complacency and want to make name for yourself. Both you and Piper will be branching out and getting more involved as well as realizing that you are more than just another face in the crowd.

Junior Year: House of Cards

This is your year. You finally know just about everything there is to know about college. How to get what you want, when you want it and where to find all the free food. You don't need anybody's help, but you know just how to use them to get where you need to be (shout-out to all the campus bus drivers). You are the Francis Underwood of your campus, ready to get involved and start taking your major classes all while remaining classically cool, unlike those seniors who are stressing about the real world. You have time to do what you want but you've realized there's more to life than a party so you spend that time getting ahead. Watch out senior year, when Underwood arrives he'll be ready...or so he thinks.

Senior Year: The Walking Dead

To be honest, when it comes to senior year you are one of two things: bad-a** Rick Grimes or the zombies. The Rick Grimes type of seniors are kicking butt and taking names. They have jobs or graduate school already set up after college and are taking full advantage of their last days of undergrad. The zombies, although just as awesome in their own way, are a bit more relaxed. They are chomping at the bit to find a job, but they are still having some serious side affects from overdosing on college the past three years. That side affect is senioritis and it is real. You zombie types are moving a glacier pace hoping that this last year won't pass by. Just like in The Walking Dead, there will be a ton of complications. Whether it's forgetting to order your cap and gown or frantically trying to get in that class you need to graduate, you will get through it side by side with all the trusty friends you've made thus far.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
