The Joy Of Getting A Care Package
She Knows

Oh, the luxuries behind living life as a college student. Pasta night feels heaven-sent when back home spaghetti was made way too often; a shower that actually leaves you feeling clean is a miracle; but there is nothing better than getting that email with the headline, "You have a package," in bold letters. After checking the mailbox daily in hopes of having a letter, the reassurance of an email is a great feeling. Not only are you going to get contact from your family, but you're most likely going to get candy. Bonus. Here are some care package ideas for those parents, significant others and other family members who may need the extra boost.

1. For that boyfriend or girlfriend that goes to a different school: Send them some of their favorite snacks and a picture of you together; the little kisses are just a bonus. Even though today's technology makes distance slightly more bearable and snail mail seems like an outdated form of communication, showing your far-away loved one how much you care through a package or a letter is much more sentimental and loving than a video chat.

2. Make a movie night care package for when life gets a little stressful, especially now that it's final exam time, and you think your kid needs a means of winding down. Throwing in some microwavable popcorn and some of their favorite candies is also a great treat and could possibly turn into them having a movie night with friends so everyone can wind down. Then you'll be helping your college student and a couple of others deal with stress. Plus, a group movie night would be loads of fun.

3. What every college kid wants, for those of you who really can't decide on what to throw into a box: This is a great way to feed into your college student's pizza eating habits and put a smile on their face as well.

4. For the athlete in the family to boost their spirits before a big game day: You can never go wrong with sending a new water bottle, because I promise your student most likely isn't regularly washing dishes.

5. A chocolate lover's dream surprise: An array of assorted chocolates in a box would be quite a nice surprise. If you want to go an easier, but still equally adorable, route, you could mail a box of chocolates to your student!

There is no way to go wrong in choosing what to put in that postal box. You can relate the surprise to a holiday coming up, a big moment in their college career (such as final exams in the next two weeks!), or just when you see something that reminds you of them. You could even send something that they may miss; if your college kid was too embarrassed to bring their baby blanket to school, you could embarrass them and send it. I promise even a slight gesture like that will brighten their day. Your college student will be overjoyed with whatever you choose to send them. They miss you a "chocoLOT," too, don't worry.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
