8 Things To Do In Summer

The sun's out, the temperature is up, and sometimes we all need ideas

Before summer starts, everyone has ideas on how they are going to spend that summer and who they will spend it with. Halfway through summer, you've forgotten those plans or decided not to do them for whatever reason and now you don't know what to do. Hopefully, these ideas will help you make some plans or come up with your own ideas!

1. Get some friends together and just hangout.

Get a group of friends together and find a place to meet up and just chill for the night. You can have them over or you guys could pick whose house to go and hangout at. Have a bonfire, play video games, watch movies, or just talk and catch up!

2. Go to an amusement/theme park.

Roller coasters, water rides, inside rides, and so many more. Just like the fair but it's always there. Going with friends is always fun but you can go with whoever you want!

3. Go to the fair.

It's summertime. That means that anywhere you look, there's a fair or festival coming up places close and far away. Get a group and go together, go with your family, or even go for date night. With games, rides, and food how can things go wrong?

4. Go driving around.

If you are from a small town, one of the main things to do in the summer (or any season really) is to just drive around with one or a couple friends. Just turn the music up and hit the backroads.

5. Find some water and relax.

Pool, ocean, river, creek, lake, whatever works for you. Lounge on the beach or swim in the water, it's up to you

6. Go to the movies.

Get out of the sun for a while and chill in the AC and see a movie. You can also do this at night if you have plans during the day. Get friends together, go with your family or favorite sibling, or even use this as a date night idea.

7. Go to a concert.

Summer concerts are popular for a reason. If you are looking to go to a concert but you don't want to spend a lot of money, see who is performing in areas around you. Some artists perform at local or state fairs or festivals and have cheaper admission. In some cases fair grounds do free concerts where all you need is the ticket for the fair grounds.

8. Work.

Let's face it, most of us have to work. If you are a college student you most likely have some sort of summer job during the day.

While you may or may not have to work, you can still enjoy doing the other things on this list. Try them out, go over your ideas and add to them or come up with new ones from this list or that you got while reading this list.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
