What Some College Students Are Starting To Think About

The college season is about to start up again, and it is crazy how fast the summer went this year. Some of the things the college students are thinking about are classes, books, work, and activities on campus and off, clubs and organizations. I would say that the hardest out of these is the work part. It is really hard to get a job on campus if an individual isn’t a work study student, but even then it’s hard for the work study students.

When it comes to looking for jobs on campus an individual has to look online to see what has been posted and what they qualify for according to grade, hours and experience. Also the next important thing when job searching is to have one's cover letter and resume' done. This gives an individual the ability to apply for jobs quickly and not have to wait a few days when that job might not be there anymore. So if an individual wants to have a job on campus, they have to have their cover letter and resume' down and also be a where of when the jobs start opening.

Next I would say would be the classes. Classes can be either fun or very boring. Students here have to face whether or not they want to stay in a class or switch a class. Usually the first week is where this all happens because the student gets the feel of the class, the workload and how they think the year is going to go with that professor. Also the students have to know where there classes are and give themselves time to get to class. They also have to make sure there aren’t any conflicts in their schedule and if so they have to go get it fixed.

Thirdly, I would say books. Students get really frustrated when it comes to paying for college textbooks because they are so expensive. But individual has to use their resources then the books end up being cheaper and free. I learned to look in the library to see if they have the books for my classes saved to be used by students so I wouldn’t have to spend money. Then if they didn’t have it I checked amazon or check with students that took that class already to get it where it was way cheaper than the bookstore. But if you can’t find it, it’s going too stuck and you’re going to have to get the book from the book store.

Four, would be activities on and off campus. Here I would say there isn’t really to worry about. Student can go online or walk around campus to find an activity calendar showing what event is happening what day. Also for the off campus activities a student has to be a where they have to go online and buy tickets for the activities. Honestly, the worst thing that could happen is you forget about the event or you don’t get a ticket.

Lastly, would be the clubs and organizations. Here there also is nothing to worry about. An individual can access the clubs online and see who is in charge of them and email or call them. Also an individual can look around campus to see all the flyers with different clubs and organizations on them.

This year looks like a no brainer though.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
