After a three month hiatus from college, students are more than eager to celebrate being reunited with their school, their college friends, and of course, their favorite brand of Vodka. After arriving back at school, students across the nation are looking for any excuse to get together and drink with their college friends once again. With the weather so nice, day drinks are just as common as the typical night out at college.
While many students are eager to celebrate darty season with their college friends, I am somewhat hesitant. Like any other person, I love an excuse to go out and party with my friends (and who doesn't love the idea of getting to do so during the day?) However, after a long day of dartying, I fall into an unfortunate pattern of stress almost every time. Why? Because although dartying is extremely fun, it almost ALWAYS involves sacrifice...especially with the typical college student lifestyle. With our nights already packed with social gatherings, our days are spent trying to be productive. College students tend to fulfill whatever obligations they have during the day so it doesn’t affect their social life. However, with darty season in full swing, it is extremely difficult to manage your time as a college student. With opportunity for fun, alcohol, and procrastination in reach, college students find it difficult to manage their time. Thus, my love/hate relationship with darts. I love to love them, but I also hate to love them.
Like myself, college students drool over the thought of partying all day because it gives us another opportunity to go out and have fun with our friends and be social. Likewise, darty goers carry a sense of pride for their school and they love to celebrate this school spirit with as many other students as possible. Day parties allow a student body to come together and celebrate its excitement for warm weather, and the beginning or end of a school year. And, of course, darties are loved because they involve alcohol ... which we all know is a college student's best friend (along with late night food orders).
Yet, darties also involve sacrifice, as mentioned earlier. Darties are time consuming ... especially if you need to nap afterwards. Likewise, if you choose to drink for a day party, you can kiss goodbye any chance of being slightly productive afterward (the hangover will suck). Furthermore, if you're dartying on a week day, you will suffer through the awful temptation to skip class for a darty (and when you skip once ... you tend to want to skip again ... and again ... and again).
College students love darties until they have to hate them. They can be extremely tempting ... and they make it extremely easy to forget about the educational part of school (but they're so fun ... ugh).
