Going away to college is a wonderful experience. You begin to live on your own and do things for yourself, without needing anyone's permission. In college we make new friends and also discover who we are. I have done all of the above in my college experience thus far, but if there's one thing I've truly learned, it's that I really miss my dog.
I miss the cute face that would run up to me when I got home, even if I was mean and threw him off my bed the night before. I miss how my dog would always know when I had a bad day and needed someone to love on me. I am writing this to tell everyone who misses their dog that they are not alone.
It is tough when the furry face that you love seeing right in front of you on a Sunday morning is now a furry face in a picture that your parents sent you. Sometimes we just want to talk to someone who is a good listener, one who will never give try to give us advice that we don't like. You know you miss your dog when you suddenly freak out as a dog passes you on campus. All you want to do is lay on the ground and cuddle with it (maybe that's just me).
Some mornings I wish I could wake up to the sound of my dog jumping on my bed instead of my roommate jumping out of bed. Unfortunately, we cannot bring our dogs to college with us, so I guess a roommate will have to suffice.
I hope everyone who has a dog misses them because your dog probably misses you, even if they can't text you and let you know like your mom does. To all college students who miss their dogs: we should all get together and look at pictures of our dogs and cry about how much we miss them.
That sounds like a very good idea for a new club, actually.
