Going To College In The Same State As Your BFF

It's almost like I never left home.

Going To College In The Same State As Your BFF

One of the worst parts about leaving home for college is leaving your friends and family, but what's even worse is leaving your friends that are family. These are people you saw on the daily at school, after school and on weekends. Life was definitely going to change without them there experiencing things with you. But, you might get lucky. By the graces of the college gods you may end up in the same state but different college as your best friend.

That's what happened to me. I was lucky enough to end up in the same state but different college that was just a transit bus/car ride away from someone who I consider a big part of my life. At first when we both moved into college we didn't realize just how close we actually were to each other until I took the first bus ride up to visit it her. The rest is just history from there. Since being back from winter break we have probably seen each other every weekend even if it was just a quick visit to just catch up over coffee. I can honestly say these years with her are going to be some of the best and here's why:

1. Visiting each other is always a big affair even if we saw each other less than a week ago.

It's like when you leave your dog for ten minutes and when you come back they act like they haven't seen you in ten years.

2. Your BFF becomes a part of your college family and vice versa.

Your BFF becomes an honorary member of your college family because they spend so much time at your dorm. They get in on inside jokes and everyone feels comfortable around them to a point where it's not a shock when they walk through the doors yet again for another sleepover.

3. They are always there for you

Whether its FaceTime or actual face time. If you need them or they need you its not hard to plan a girls date when you aren't that far away.

4. You know each others class schedules by heart

This makes planning weekday or weekend trips easy. Knowing each others schedules also brings you to that whole new level of best friend, because it takes a lot to memorize your own schedule let alone someone else's.

5. You are all over each others Social Media

Whenever you are with each other it would be wrong not to show all your friends who you are spending time with. Documenting memories is important that way you have proof of all the fun years you've had together. Personally this weekend my Snapchat was full of videos and pictures of me and my best friend having a blast all over the city.

6. It feels like you haven't really left home when you spend so much time with an extremely close friend

It's easy to feel homesick when you are away at college, but when you get to see someone often who you use to see every day it takes some of the pain away. Of course, you miss your parents and family members, but having that friend there with you makes it more bearable. Honestly having your best friend so close is convenient. You have someone to remind you of home along with reminding you that you are also having fun at your new home.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
