Most universities allow the students who reside on campus to choose their roommates. There is a likelihood that roommate groups are formed early on for the following academic year and are comprised of your best friends. However, one might not realize the transition that it may take to turn your best friend that you see in class three times a week into your permanent "sleepover buddy" for the entire school year.

I feel that there will always be ups and downs to any roommate group no matter how big this transition may be at first. Although there are some disagreements at times, I hope you come to the realization like I did that having roommates is a must-have to fulfill any college experience. Here are three reasons why my three suitemates with its added bonus of making our recently, new mate feel welcomed can be considered my "saving grace."

1. It makes life exciting.

There is never a dull moment. The expression of the many different personalities, the laughs, and the aggravation that comes with academics can be heard from a mile away. Especially this year, my suitemates were able to bring out angles of me that I, myself, thought were nonexistent. Each of us has our own way of expressing ourselves, which has brought me to a further understanding of how beneficial it is to spread positive energy onto others.

2. They stick by you.

Through thick and thin, they are always there for you. I feel that looking out for one another is essential in any relationship. I feel that suitemates are a special case, however, since they should be considered to be your backups at least 97% of the time. No further explanation is needed when one of your suitemates is having a bad day; you just know. They will always be the first one to cheer you up, where a response does not have to be sent through a text message.

3. An automatic support system.

In a social sense, as well as academically, they are all a reliable support system. Throughout the group, we vary in the ways we go about our social lives. Also, no two class schedules are the same since most of us are not striving towards the same career path. I feel that there would be more competition than support if we were all in the same major. Luckily, this is not the scenario. The support is more individualized throughout since one roommate can tell when the other is cramming for a test.

Overall, I feel that I would be lost if I was not given the opportunity to get to know such a great group of wonderful people. Treasure the moments and continue to laugh all that you can; your spring semester will be over in the blink of an eye.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
