If you're heading off to college, here are 10 things that you might want to add to your packing list:

1. A Fan

You are basically living in a shoebox and no matter how high you blast the A/C it’s going to get hot sometimes.

2. Salt and Pepper

You won’t realize this is missing from your packing list until you really need it.

3. Sugar

I came to college with a coffee maker, coffee filters, coffee grounds, coffee cups, coffee creamer... and I was really frustrated when I realized I forgot the sugar.

4. Hamper with wheels

You’ll be happy when you don’t have to lug your 50 pound bag of laundry to the other side of the building.

5. A Ramen Cooker

I didn’t know that this existed until a few months ago but it seriously does a better job cooking Ramen in a microwave.

6. A lint roller

No one thinks to pack one of these but you’re probably going to need it at some point.

7. Tools

I have a pink set of tools that I have used a bunch of times throughout my first semester. It came in handy when I needed to measure my closets and windows for curtains and put together my food-cart and floor lamp.

8. Swiffer

You’re going to have to clean the floor of your dorm at some point, and a swiffer is easy to use and easy to store.

9. A designated interview outfit

Interviews can pop-up out of nowhere and you don’t want to be left unprepared and scrambling at the last minute to find an outfit.

10. Indoor/outdoor slippers

I have a pair of Ugg slippers that I wear around my dorm and sometimes outside to grab some food from the dining hall. They’re definitely worth the investment.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
