College is fun, exciting, an experience of a lifetime, and if you are lucky it is your home away from home. It is a time to grow as a person, meet new friends that will be your friends for a lifetime, and maybe even meet the love of your life. As everyone knows, college is very stressful, and it can be emotionally and physically exhausting. Here are a few reasons why college makes me want to rip my hair out.
1. I never feel like I have free time to do anything.
I swear I spend at least 90 percent of my time doing something related to my studies. I am either two places; the cafe or at my desk doing school work. Whenever I see people who have a lot of free time I always think to myself, "I wonder what their major is because I want it to be mine."
2. Dorm life.
Oh, the dorm life. Going to college I thought that living in the dorms was going to be like a movie, but boy was I wrong. Community showers are disgusting. I never realized how gross girls really were until I had to share a bathroom with a floor of them. Let me keep this brief lots of tampons and hair on the walls in the shower. I know, gross.
3. Distractions.
There are so many distractions if you live on campus. There is always something fun going on at the quad, parties, and just your friends in general. There is always something I would much rather be doing something with my friends than doing school work.
4. You're constantly broke.
College is so expensive if you did not get a scholarship. You are forced to pay thousands of dollars just because you want to be something better in life.
5. There is no getting away from it.
Whenever I go home someone is always asking me, "How is school going?" I always say good, but in my head, I'm thinking, "Here we go again. The same old question." Also, you're constantly getting emails from your professors and school.
6. Your professors think that their class is your only class.
Your professors are constantly loading so many exams, papers, and assignments on you that it is so exhausting. I'm constantly questioning if I'm going to everything done on time.
7. Textbooks.
Wait until you absolutely know that you're going to need your textbook before you buy it. Most of the time, professors will tell you that you will need to buy a book and you use it once, or not at all. If you don't use it there is about $200 down the drain.
8. Sleep.
You're never getting enough sleep it seems like. If you can fit in a 20-minute nap then you take it. Also, drinking coffee seems like your drink of every meal.
9. Food.
Most of the time the cafe is disgusting and the only time it's good is about twice a week. Hello, Taco Bell and Pizza Hut; Hello freshman 15.
10. Last but not least, finals.
AKA hell. 'Nough said.
