Your Major Explained in GIFs

Adult: So what are you majoring in? Have any plans for graduate school?

Me: You know, that's a really fantastic question. Funny story actually...

If you're in college, or are soon to be a college student, you've most likely have had this conversation with a fellow adult. You might know what you want to study, or you just might not have a clue of what you want to do. Because the age of 18 is the perfect time that life wants to know exactly what you want to spend the rest of your life doing, along while figuring out how you're going to live without your mom and dad post college... Oh no...

Check this out to see what your major says about you.

Communications

You live for the latest news about anything and everything! You are all about living in the present and voice your opinions whenever you can. If talking were a subject in school, you'd be on the Dean's list. The confidence you have will help you go far in this field!

Philosophy

While your friends are out dancing on tables and playing beer-pong, you're zoning out trying to answer life's most complex questions. Arguing with you is pointless, because no matter how much debate you have with your friends, you always tend to win. Everyone thinks you get Confucius and Socrates, but in reality you're just a really good smart-aleck.

Business

Let's face it, you look cute in a pantsuit with a coordinating briefcase. You love working in group projects and enjoy talking to people. You know what you want and how to get your way by persuading people within 30 minutes. Work hard play hard, my friend.

Physics

Let me start by saying... HOW?! You're knowledge level of math is ridiculous. You're goal in life is to figure out how everything in the universe works, by the means of mathematics. You honestly could be one of those people who apply physics to every day activities and go viral for it.

Nursing

You're friends go to you for any medical related concern they have. Nursing school is TOUGH. But somehow between all the stress you are under, you love it because you know in the end that it'll all be worth it. Your family always asks, "Why not just be a doctor?," and all you're trying to do is leave for your clinicals at 4 in the morning. True respect for nursing students and all those in the medical field!

Psychology

You're the person among your friends that gives good advise. Your friends go to you, because they know you're a great listener, regardless of the problem. You tend to think about why people act the way that they do. You get why Jason drinks a lot, and you get why Becky can be so rude at times.

History

You already knew your senior thesis the minute you graduated high school. You're all about informing people about global issues and are always up-to-date with the latest CNN news. To you, a history textbook is your go reading, as tweens love the Twilight series. Because you'd rather know the OG story of Edward Cullen's past.

Fashion Design/Fashion Merchandise

New York Fashion Week is what you think heaven looks like. You express yourself through the creative art form of fashion and are always dressing cute and trendy. Your friends look to you for fashion advice when going out, to always make sure you all look your best. In the words of fashion mogul Coco Chanel, "I don't do fashion. I am fashion."

English

You love reading books, and can be considered a grammar police in your group text with your friends. You get why the author or poet chose to use a blue sweater to represent the agony of life. Others consider writing essays to be a pain, you get the essay done within an hour. Whether papers are MLA, APA, or Chicago style, you love it all. I'll just be here, sticking to Chicago-style pizza.

If you don't know what you want to exactly study in the last few years of your education, it's okay to switch your major once or twice! Turn your passion into a career that you'll enjoy!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
