If College Majors Were Bob's Burgers Characters

Are you more of a Tina or a Gayle?

College can be rough. You get asked the same questions get asked of you over and over again: “what’s your major?” When you answer that question, the other person usually stereotypes you into that major, deciding what kind of person you are based off of what you chose to study. While this may be annoying, I decided to use these stereotypes for good and apply them to characters from one of the best TV shows, Bob’s Burgers.

The Sciences: Tina

Tina lives in her own world of fantasy while the real world may remain somewhat of a mystery. Lucky for us, Tina is curious about the world much like you have to be in the science fields. Each great scientific discovery has started with a simple question, which Tina has a lot of.

Psychology: Linda

Linda thrives on small talk and, much like psych majors, always tries to find out what people want and how they can get it. She sticks with Bob through thick and thin, cares for her sister Gayle even when she is delusional, and always supports the kid’s dreams. Linda is possibly the most caring Belcher and will do anything to make the people in her life happy.

Music: Gene

It is no question that Gene is musically talented. Throughout the show we have seen him make up songs, write jingles, and even star in his own musical. He is overly dramatic and like many music majors I know, he is a free spirit and is not afraid of what people think about him.

Education: Bob

Much like the future educators of the world, Bob has a large capacity for patience. However, his patience is frequently tested by his friends and children much like a teacher's patience is tested by their students. Despite this Bob, and education majors, maintain sunny perspectives and face most everything with enthusiasm and earnest.

Business: Louise

Through the show we can see that Louise is highly motivated by money and always has a scheme to get money. She sells Andy and Ollie’s art and makes $200 and charges kids to use the look out she created over the nude beach. In this way, you could even consider her an entrepreneur.

Dance: Jimmy Jr.

Jimmy Jr. is the obvious choice here. His passion is dancing his feelings, though he is also capable of more, he knows where his heart truly lies. Much like Jimmy Jr. you can see dance majors dancing in most places on campus. Even in the dining hall.

Communications: Andy and Ollie

Andy and Ollie can finish each other's sentences and thoughts. They are in sync with each other just like a communications major has to be in sync with their surroundings. The communications field is ever changing and being connected is the way to do it.

Undecided: Gayle

Gayle is still trying to find her place in the world. People who go into school undecided are the exact same way. The world may seem big and scary but everyone finds their place in the world.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
