The Struggles Of College Life As Told By 'Parks and Recreation'

The Struggles Of College Life As Told By 'Parks and Recreation'

You wake up in the morning after having pressed snooze 18 times. Oh, look! Now you only have 10 minutes to get to class and you haven't showered in 3 days. You really hope no one can smell you.

After running through campus only to get to class 15 minutes late, you see that the only seat available is front and center. God help you now.

You put in all this effort to get to class on time, and then the teacher surprises you with a pop quiz. You're kidding that you actually came to class today to fail a pop quiz? Not to mention, you're still aggravated that someone took your seat which you've been sitting in ALL SEMESTER. It's week 12, how have you confused my seat for your own?

Now (most especially because you are in the front of the class) you have to pay attention. You cannot fix your boredom by playing on your phone during class.

What about those three hour classes you have to take sometimes? Three hours saves you from having to go to class three times a week, but is it worth it? What about when the professor doesn't give you a break halfway in between?

Ugh, class was really rough, so now you are going to go spend 9 dollars on a frilly latte from Starbucks. Maybe you'll get a cake pop, too. You may have no money, but you just got up and went to class. You deserve it all.

When you realize that college is hard, and it's really hard to be an adult living on your own, this is what it feels like:

When it comes time to take exams, and you think you killed it

But then your grades come back, and your heart breaks in two.

When you find out you have to do a group project for a class, and you just can already see the impending failure in your future.

It will all be okay, right? College doesn't determine your future or anything like that.

When your day is over, and you get to crawl into bed with netflix, the joy you feel is literally unmatched.

But then you realize you have to keep going to school for another day, and then another week, and then another month.

How are you supposed to keep living life with the gross food your college serves you for breakfast, lunch, and dinner? Your insides feel like they are full of garbage.

What about sleep? When are you supposed to get sleep? No sleep causes delirium, and delirium causes you to do a lot of weird things and make a lot of poor decisions.

But you can't forget the feeling you get after staying up for hours to prepare for a test or finish a project.

It feels pretty darn good to say that you tried!!!

How are you supposed to keep doing this everyday? Adult life is hard.

You just want your dog, and you NEED some animal therapy ASAP to get through these grueling college days.

What would happen if you just dropped out though? Realistically, you aren't getting enough animal therapy to get you through your days so dropping out seems like the only logical option. It's a smart choice, right?

Well, at least you have the weekends to look forward to and your very good friend that helps you enjoy them.

It releases all your stress from the week before, and assists you in pushing off the pile of work waiting for you on your desk that is due Monday.

Yet, how are you doing all of this? You don't have a penny to spare...

It's no big deal. As the days pass, you are just digging yourself into a deeper hole of debt.

Regardless of the disaster that college is, you love it and wouldn't trade it for the world. The people you meet and the experiences it gives you make it one of the best parts of your life. Enjoy it while you can!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
